I used to panic and change them when they hit the wear line, which always happened pretty fast, then after doing some reading on here I chanced it and found I can go a few years and many miles and they just stopped wearing.I never had scratchers or duponts. When I used to keep my sleds longer longer, there were times I could go 3-4 seasons on sliders, or many thousands of miles.
The funny thing is I have a brand new set of scratchers in the package for a few years hanging on the garage wall. lol

Some of the worst years for slider wear was when Yamaha started using the new single bolt blocks for the idler wheels.(2005?) Hit a few bumps and the blocks would move up an 1/8 of an inch, so the wheel was doing almost nothing. Also, near the front of the rail, the rail would sometimes bend where the front block mounted so that wheel was doing absolutely nothing. They smarted up with the second gen monoshock that had 2 bolt blocks, but even on those, you should loosen the bolts and hold the block down while tightening. And tighten bolts very tight.I used to panic and change them when they hit the wear line, which always happened pretty fast, then after doing some reading on here I chanced it and found I can go a few years and many miles and they just stopped wearing.
