Last year there was no pretty much no winter in Southern Ontario. I put 8K on my truck and 3K on the nytro.
All the weather/winter forecasts were calling for a snowy, long winter. WTF is going on??? Looks like the season
will be just few rides here and there (if lucky) I sure feel for people dependant on snow for their living.
Just had to vent, rant over....

Hate to say it but it looks like I wasted $ 200 on an ontario pass for the third year in a row. Was out in my t-shirt washing trucks today. Even saw three motorcycles out in mid January. Can't believe it. I agree the mileage on the truck will be higher than my sled's again.

Agreed, It's pretty sad that the available trails on the ofsc are going down daily in mid january instead of up. I have got out once this year and it was rough riding. Im beginning to doubt that some clubs are even gonna open trails this year.

In the same boat as the rest of you.
I can't believe when we we get these warm systems from the south how large a geographic area they encompass. Basically this thing has fried most of Ontario. I am sure Minnesota, Wisconsin and Michigan all suffered.
You can't even out drive it to find some decent trails cause everything was affected.
Sorry for the vent.....

There isn't any snow in Wisconsin either. Pretty depressing winter. I feel for the businesses that rely on snowmobilers in the winter. 2 years in a row, and this sure does suck.

Here in southern minnesota we had fairly good riding up until this past week 40 for temps and rain, it wrecked all trails and river , no snow in forcast either, kind of hard to get excited about snowmobiling anymore . I have been riding for almost 40 years and having to sit and wait and wait for snow is getting old fast, We are going out west later in year, but shouldnt have to be put through this abuse of not having any snow in minnesota in january. Well gotta go and check the rain gauge

Yeah, this blows. New sled for the wife too. Been sitting in the garage all week with the same oil and gas it came with.
Minnesota DMV must have seen this coming as trail pass/registration fees were restructured. Now you pay for the trail pass/registration in one whack in lieu of a single trail pass. For those in-between the 3 year registration span...you had to dig deep. Still cheaper than paying 45 for riding Michigan.
What do you do tho? Drive and keep driving.
I would like to say I am giving up on this sport but I know I am not. Bummer is I finnally now have my equipment together. Nice sleds, nice gear, nice trailer...the money to go and now no snow.
Its depressing. I need to find something else to do in the winter. Not sure what.

We managed to get 450 miles out of the ONE snow we received in December thats now gone. The trails werent perfect, but at least they were ridable.

I started a salt water aquarium. The only activity is drinking and watching rock.

Trailer, trailer, trailer.
We did a quick afternoon trip to Tillsonburg to warm sleds up, and then last week 3 days trip Stirling, Pembroke and Smith falls. Now we have over 1000km on this season
Meeting Tuesday for planning our 10 day February trip from Riveire Du Loop down through New Brunswick and back.
We are already thinking, in 2 weeks of heading for Timmons or Cochrane.

You Minnesota guys need to trailer north. Manitoba is completely groomed and the snow is great everywhere. Way better than last year!

going to canada to ride isnt cost effective. Now we have to have passports to go, plus the 150 trail sticker

Have already spent over $750 for permits for Ontario and Quebec. We plan to sled New brunswick also, so that will be another one. It is a fact of sledding.
Passports are needed for any travel.
Permit prices are hard to swallow at the season start. but once on the trail and the snow flying in your face, it is all worth it.

i dunno about you guys, but I have a wife and two kids at home. Taking off for 3-4 day weekends trailering sleds to god-knows-where in search of snow isnt something that can easily happen. Being able to leave right from home and get several hours of riding in is the only real way our crew ever gets any miles on.
not the mention the expense of fuel, hotel, food, permits, etc.

Trailering 4hrs one way, sledding 4 hrs, getting home 4hrs later. I've done that all last season. Im sick of it this season.
