i was talking to a sled mehanic telling him i cleaned and regreased my jackshaft and secondary clutch bearings.he asked me what color the grease was.i told him biege or whiteish.he showed me a tube of bearing grease special for bearings the grease is white and about $70.00 for a 8oz tube.i used synthetic valvoline it is black.what is everyone using??

Grease

I used synthetic Mobil 1 on the secondary shaft bearing and on all the stock wheels on my Attak and RX1. Just peeled the seals back and cleaned and greased with a large syringe without the needle. rode all last year (2200 miles) and no more wheel failures on either sled. Checked them this year and all the wheels seem great except for the rear idlers on the RX1 were bad since you can't peel the the seals to grease them. $29 for new rear wheels (apiece) with the replacable bearings.

The color is irrelevant - depends strictly on what colors the manufacturer added, and there is NO standardization, EXCEPT that WHITE is usually LITHIUM grease, which is absolutely wrong for bearings. It'll usually be black, brown, green, beige, etc.

Been using Arctic Cat Low Temp grease on bearings for years. It is white. Never had one fail from a problem with lube. Water intrusion seems to get them first.

definetly not lithium grease.looks different.kluber lubrication is the co.they call it isoflex topas nb 52 special roller bearing grease.made in austria.it is used in the rotax engines.

adding any grease is better than one season old grease, no matter the color!
