which direction for Exhaust gasket? 09 nytro

Hi all,
Which direction does this gasket go? or does it matter?

I would guess the "solid" band goes toward the muffler... to really seal the pipe in the muffler.

the gasket is item # 15 in parts diagram.

open to suggestions!
