I really need to decide by tomorrow and I am looking for advice.

"Santa" brought my wife a new 07 Apex GT and she really likes it afer riding a 99 2-up Smoke-Doo, no suprise there.

Now it's my turn and I could get the same sled - 07 Apex GT ($8K) but I think it would be a bit boreing having 2 of the same sled, but don't think I would be bored with this sled. I had a 96 MXZ 583

The other option is the Apex LTX GT 40th ( $10K)or a used 07 Apex RTX with 3k miles ($5k).

We ride groomed trails, are not speed freaks, and only do jumps when suprised.

What say Ye?

RTX might be a bit stiff for you unless you like to tackle the rough stuff, plus 5g's sounds like the sled may have been abused. My choice would be between the new 07 GT and the 08 LTX. LTX would give you a better ride both on groomed trails the abilty to take it off trail a little. Given your description of how you ride, the 07 GT sounds like a winner.

I have a 07 Apex GT that I just bought this fall and I love the ride. I primarily ride groomed trails most of the time but the suspension will suck up most of the bumps without a major problem. If I was constantly riding rough trails at high speed I might consider the RTX but for what you are describing I think the GT would be a great fit.

Good Luck on your decision,

Brad

From the riding you described.I don't think you will be happy with the rtx.I would go with 07 gt unless money is no problem the 08 40th look's sweet and has better shock valving. You could get the 07 and revalve the shocks and still be money ahead.

That RTX is cheap at that price! Great deal. In my opinion, I would pick the GT or the LTX your riding style points you in that direction.

And the winner is.......

Me in the end..

I picked the 08 Apex LTX GT and I will have it on Friday morning.

Thanks to those that responded your advice was valuable and helped me solidify my choice.

I didn't get the RTX because it was used and I was concerned about that. And it may be more agressive than the riding I will be doing.

I didn't get the Apex GT because that is my wife's ride when she is not riding..O nevermind that. It's a great sled and I can ride that when I want to give that a try.

I did get the LTX Gt because of the longer track, better ride, better off trails when I do that, and it is different.

Yes it's more $ but from a long term perspecive and if I keep the sled for 4 - 6 years like the last ones it's a good investmernt to be happy.

Again thanks for the advice....

I think you will be very happy with the choice you made. Now where are you from so someone else can snatch up the 07 RTX for $5000?

Ive got about 750 miles on my 08GT LTX and is the best riding sled Ive ever been on.
I also ride mostly groomed trails only thing I mite do is a heaver sway bar.

Enjoy the new ride!!!!

Just to be clear, the price for this sled from my dealer was because it was part of purchasing 2 sleds, one for my wife - the 07 Apex GT and my 08 LTX GT and taking in trade the 96 MXZ. So will you get the same deal - no.

I can post the dealer name, contact and phone if you want to call them and see what you can get for a deal. Off the street price was something like 6,500 before haggeling...

Am I allowed to post stuff like the Yamaha dealers name in Vermont? stuff?

It also has YES till 11/09

We have a 2006 Apex GT and a 2007 Apex RTX.
I ride the GT and my son rides the RTX
His riding style is more aggressive than mine and he prefers the RTX.
I like my GT and when my son does jump onto my sled, he cant get over how much more smoother and comfortable the GT is over the RTX.
If youre riding groomed trails, take the GT
If you got a chance to nail down a good deal on the 40th anniversary Apex GT, go for it!!!
