Who designs these things

OK guys play nice.
If you call someone feeble that is definately a personal atack and not allowed, to call an opinion feeble minded is a strong way to disagree with an opinion and thus I think it may slide under the rules. I will check. Rod you might get strong opinions back because that is what you yourself tend to dish out.

Now back to some good conversation. If anybody knows how to get an insurance company to pay what YOU want them to pay out on a claim, vs what their little book says which usually is not enough, PLEASE let me know the insurance company that does that.

I'm sorry :( , but you still haven't answered the question on everyones mind. Have you any experience with getting a stolen item replaced the next day with a new and similiar one. I hope you dont take further offense to this "remark" or that of others. After all this open forum does not only work in one direction. Step up or step out.

Of course you wont get them to pay you in one day we all know it takes time. I would just go buy another one and use the claim money when it comes in to go towards it. I have had expensive rental equipment of mine gone missing I went and bought a new one to replace it. Then I got all the time I want to barter with the insurance company. They paid for the new one in full. Mind you this was commercial insurance.

I have had an atv stolen and i can tell you from my experience i did not get the full value of the atv back from the insurance company. (i was quoted a book value)
I argued till i was blue in the face and it did not help my case one bit.
actually all the arguing did was delay payment, which was pretty f-ing delayed to begin with.
I even showed slips of aftermarket parts i had purchased and installed and they told me that these things did not add to the value and i could not prove they were actually installed since i did it myself and did not have a dealers invoice for installation. "liberty mutual what a bunch of jerks"
I know a lot of people have thier own opinions of this situation but i think it is a wise idea to make it as hard as possible for someone to get your stuff.

Did you go and get ads of people selling the same thing to back up your claim for your costs. Replacement value does not mean they are going to give a brand new one they will replace the value it was at the time of loss. A good thing to do is not settle go and find ads of the units for sale which is closer to what the price you want. A lot of times when they see these they will meet you half way to settle quickly.

The best thing to do on any insurance policy is to read the fine print!.I go as far as taking pictures and video of everthing I own including the inside contents of my house that way they can't say you have no proof of purchase or that you ever owned it.

:ORC: Crime doesn't pay, you do. YOU are the one who is always going to pay for the theft. I do not believe that the depreciation will ever allow you to break even and have a new snowmobile too. Which realistically, most people want a new one after this happens to them. Especially if they are paying off a loan on it. You may as well have give the thieves money, in addition to them taking your sled. If it doesn't cost you much monetarily, it will cost you mentally.

The only way having something insured and stolen works is if you didn't care for it in the first place, it's 2 years old, paid for, and time to trade anyway, or it has an established value that does not depreciate. A snowmobile is the worst thing when it comes to depreciation and since insurance companies get values from books, you'll never get enough to justify any advantages to having a new one stolen.

Now. If money is no object, or considered disposible, or you have no trouble being in debt for more than you should be, then by all means. Yee ha!!! The sled got stolen! Go get a new one.

As stated earlier the ins has to pay the value of the sled at the time it went missing. They can state the value as such with a little book! I can state the value as such with ads from newspapers and what have you. We meet in the middle and agree on a value of the machine. I have lost nothing the depreciation is already paid back to me in fun value and it is and should be expected. What I am saying is I am not going to lose sleep over a sled being stolen when I pay good money for ins to cover me in case it happens. If I tooks the acceptable amount of precaution like lock it up and take the keys inside. I dont worry about it.

One more note if I lost the sled two days after picking it up whether it be lost in a house fire or stolen wth no fault of my own. The insurance would pay for a full brand new machine.

I'm not sure if it's been mentioned (4 pages..), but does Arctic Cat still have one key for all sleds.

I had a '93, and my key started all other sleds at the dealer. I joked about it with another Cat rider in the late 90's, and he thought it was still the case.

So - Yamaha is light years ahead of AC (as usual).
