Sure that is what you pay insurance for, but it would still suck to have it happen to you.
And good luck getting a limited production model like the Apex GT back from insurance.

Stopping theives is the job of the policeman not the snowmobile rider. Why not just lock them up if they steal them and your trailer and truck and buy brand new with your insurance claim. This is why we buy insurance! If the insurance company gives me a break on insurance for all this deterence stuff I might buy it. Lose a day sledding to get all brand new stuff sounds good to me.

Oh yea why is it feeble minded unless you cant grasp what is being said. I paid for insurance! I locked it up! Why should I lose sleep knowing full well I am covered. I thought this is what insurance is supposed to do give you peace of mind. I will say it again if I am fully insured and I have locked up my posessions if someone steals them all including the truck to be honest with you I would not be that disapointed in getting all brand new stuff. You wont see it again if it does get stolen. IN fact my rates wont even go up because it is not my fault the crime rate is so high. So kindly keep your remarks to yourself please.

Provided they don't screw you on some sort of loop-hole, and are willing to give you full value for your possesions that were stolen. Then you have to deal with claim points and deductibles which may cause you to settle for something you don't really want (larger payments on a newer sled). They don't repay you for the mental anguish of having your vacation or trip ruined or being a victim of unfortunate circumstances either.
A fella I know got his Harley stolen. It was the last year shovelhead model, and he agonized over that for years after - even though his insurance got him a brand-new Softail Classic.

Most insurance company's are pretty good if you have a good claim. If I locked up my stuff and it got stolen that is a good claim. I dont have to go to extremes like watch my stuff all night or park against a lamp post to get a legit claim. They do actually give you replacement value so if I spent $15000 and the new sled costs $16000 they would ask and I would pay the extra $1000 to get a new sled or at least a very good dollar on my older stuff! Why let it ruin your trip phone them up and tell them you are buying a new one so you can finish your holidays. Or you could rent one and I bet they might even cover the costs of the rental.

I've known people who have lost items like these to theft....NONE of them have been GLAD that it happened. In other words, you'll never come out better than you were before. If I have a 1 or 2 yr old sled/truck, the ins co. is not going to replace it with a brand new one. I would have to start over again, making pmts on a new one (assuming the cost difference myself), or settle for a used one that would prob not be in as good of shape as I keep mine. Heck, even if I'm driving a 5 yr old truck that I've had since new, is paid for, and it gets stolen, I don't want to start from scratch again with the cost of a new one if mine was in perfect shape. If someone stole my ZR, State Farm is not going to give me $8-9500 to go pick out a new sled, they're likely to give me $3500-4000 to go find a used one....not what I would want to do. This doesn't even consider the mental anguish as someone mentioned before, plus the down time. I travel 650 miles one way to ride, and if my sled gets stolen while I'm up there, I'm sure to lose some sled time, even if I rent a sled for the remainder of the trip.

Even if you have insurance, it still sucks to have your stuff stolen.

Depends how you look at it I guess. A five year old truck is still 5 years old and the insurance company will give you what you want for it if you hold your ground. They will give you what you want for your sleds too so if they are giving you a fair price for every thing I dont see what the big deal is. We all have to buy new trucks and sleds eventually anyway. You got a good dollar for your old sled so buy a new one and enjoy the heck out of it. Not worth losing sleep over some waste of skins lame way of making a living by being a low life theif.

What if your sled was prone to breaking down or losing or using oil a nightmare from day 1 just a plain lemon and it got stolen. Would you be sad then when you are getting the best dollar you could ever get for it and use it on buying a new one. Would you be sad then?

In a perfect world, no. But those fairy tale circumstances don't happen to me anyway, otherwise my sled would've gotten stolen the first time I parked it.

Sorry to offend, I did'nt realize your sentivity was such. Have you gone through with this quick and easy insurance replacement policy that you speak of? Remember, we all open ourselves up to reply remarks as soon as we post anything here. If your strong enough to sled then be strong enough for criticism (both positive and negative). :ORC
