Hey evryone I have 18 ltx se getting ready to tune my sled, but not sure what to go with as far as sm tune or aftermarket exhaust tune. I very hard to please when it comes to power as my new sidewinder I thought there would be more than it has. So my question who has tuned their sled that rides in ny and what issues have you had. For example any problems sheriff's if you have exhaust. How the tune reacts in the trail etc.

I ride in the Old Forge area, TD Max Spool 16 and no problems at all. stock exhaust so its very quiet. more than enough power for trail riding that area, trails are twisty with a lot of traffic. you just cant just grab a hand full unless out on the lake because there is always someone coming the other way. the sled is fun on Max16 but there will always be someone you run into with a bigger tune or more set up for lake racing, all depends what you want to do.

I’ve been riding my tuned Winder with Performance exhaust in Old Forge and Tug Hill for 2 seasons and had no problems with sheriff’s. Although I switched from like race loud DD can - witch was to loud for all day riding in to Fab 3” can , and I like it so far .

And I went with Hurricane cluster multi flash after my DD tuned motor blow up .
Well I'm not much of lake racer but I do play around up in cranberry lake trail I'm more for how snappy the tune in I'm stuck between td and hurricane. What's the nature of hurricane toon on the trail and which tune do you have

Well I cannot tell about TD tunes, but I’ll find that for most of NY trails I’m running 240 hp ..

I dont really care about top end speed how is the td sm max spool 16 is it snappy, what's it like corner to corner

I ride and live south of Buffalo NY, and make at least 4 trips a season to tug hill/old forge. Average about 2000 miles per season on my 17 Ltx le.
Tuned since day 1. First season I ran 2 different aftermarket mufflers. First was too loud for mine or landowners liking im sure so ditched it in a hurry and went with a quiet trail muffler. Had zero issues with any cops at multiple stops even with the sled idling and talking to them. Used that the reminder of the first and 2nd season.
This past season I decided to go back to stock muffler because of the tune options available and tested. Also for a lot or my sledding trips it isnt worth the hassle with police and I never want to see a trail closed over something like noise. I run the turbo dynamics tune bundle and gap flasher. I ran the stock muffler max spool 16 tune all last winter about 1700 miles. Absolutely loved it. Great power through the muffler and obviously box stock quiet. Not the same power a free flowing muffler provides but you'll be hard pressed to find anything else on the trails with a stock muffler thatll run with you on that tune, short of another sidewinder/cat turbo sled.

My aftermarket mufflers are now on the shelf and only bolted on for the snow hill drag circuit at the ski slopes in ny when I want all the available power on tap. In my personal experience my fuel economy stayed pretty equal to the other mufflers when riding similarly. And I was able to get around 15 mpg on groomed non aggressive group riding most days. I'd say stock muffler tunes are the way to go regardless of who you prefer for the actually tuning

The max spool 16 is great corner to corner, spools up quick and will hit 16/17 psi of boost very rapidly. I also have cold air intake, billet bov, and their 3 bar map sensor upgrade to get the absolute most out of the setup. From there like anything good clutching and/or gearing changes for youre desired riding style will compliment any tune well. On my ltx I switched from the stock 21/41 gearing to the 24/50 gearing. Little better low end snap. Easier on belts (I don't have a belt blower never did) and I can still pull 118mph range on the speedo compared to the 125ish range with the stock gearing. Better for the trails and still good enough speed for the occasional lake blast

Did you have to use cat chain when you switch to 24/50 gears what are you using for clutching.

Hurricane stock muffler tunes are very responsive.

Have you tried the 270 sm tune from hurricane would like some feedback on that tune. This would be my main tune for riding probably 192 woody gd for hookup. Just need some help on what people are using for clutching for that snappy feeling and good back shift when in the trail.
