I think it would look cool to run Xenon bulbs in the apex. For those that do not know, Xenon bulbs are usually found on high end vehicles and have a very bright whitish look to it. Very noticeable on the highways and would look cool on the trails. Anyone know a bulb part # that would fit our yamaha’s?...

I run them, amazing how white and clear they are. Don't know part number, I purchased them at the Novi show.

Those are not Xenon bulbs, that's HID lighting. The Xenon bulbs are an attempt to duplicate the look. HID is very expensive. You can get kits for motorcycles starting at about $250.00, $500 for cars and trucks.Dano said:I think it would look cool to run Xenon bulbs in the apex. Hey Dano,
The ones at crappy tire are great and very bright. I wouldn't buy the cheap sets you can find at car parts stores.. (Euro Lights, Bright Lites etc.) as I have tried them and they don't last too long. The Sylvania SilverStar's they sell at Canadian Tire are IMO the best ones. They are pricey...$27 each but they work great and if you have a problem, bring them back with your receipt and they will exchange them for you. The part number for our sled is 9003 which is actually an H4.
Cheers,
John

Mighty is right on the money! HID lights are a SYSTEM! Not just a simple bulb swap. For what it's worth, I have had extremely good luck over the years with PIAA. Yes, they are pricey/spendy as well, ranging in price from $25 to $40 per bulb, but they are excellent quality and they work as advertised.
One thing to remember here, assuming you are working with similar wattage bulbs (60w / 55w), all you are really doing is changing the color of the light. Yes, white light travels further down the trail, more so than a "yellowish" halogen light....side by side the color difference is amazing...but too many are misinformed when it comes to bulbs.

exactly! I had the expensive xenon bulbs in new pick-up and i didn't like them. they DID look a lot whiter, but to me they didn't seem any "brighter".
I had one in my old sled and it work better than stock. maybe because it was shining on snow all the time not sure.

Hey Dano,
I run the xenon in my Rx and will be putting them into the apex. I did notice a difference between them and the stock bulbs, I wouldn't say it is a huge difference but noticeable. I got them from Royal Dist. and think they were around $15-20 per bulb.
It is funny the thread on the silverstars because I just replaced my stock headlights on my truck with them. The original lights on my truck were horrible, but I can't tell you how much better the silverstars are because i haven't driven at night yet to find out if they are better or not. They better be for $27.00 a bulb. I will be trying them out tonight and let you know.
