On my 04 Warrior I removed the tip rivets and tested with the stock primary spring and I was seeing 10300-10400 RPM.
I then put the O/S/O spring in with tip rivets removed and the RPM came up to 10700-10800.
I'm thinking the second set up would be better for top end, what do you think?
Is there a special tool used to install these type of rivets?

No way. Power drops off past 10300 rpm.

I have to disagree guy's, my sled with the after market exhaust wont pull worth crap at 10,300. I have found out that I need to run this thing at 10,500 up to 10,700 and thats a fact. We proved it out on the lake in the same day with the same conditions. My buddy set up the clutching and it would not run at 10,300.

This is interesting! We are hearing 2 sides to this? Let us keep this discussion going so we can come to the bottom of this, or should I say to the TOP OF IT

Ok, I'll keep the ball rolling. Here is what I am running in my 03 shorty.
clutching = HH stage 2 setup from Matt Secondary is stock right now.
ECP w/ EVAC = 165'S FOR MAIN JETT'S and the RED HOLTZMAN springs
and running the NGK10 PLUG'S.
FULL RACE EXHAUST= Made from R/T Blackmagic
1 inch camo with 144 stud's.
Now, I know for a fact that this thing will not pull at 10,300 the way it does at 10,500 to 10,700. It is a big difference in power and I can feel it for sure, the sled just feel's like it is flat in the midrange when at 10,300.
When I get it up to 10,700 and it stays there, WOW pulls like a freight train.

When I was in Quebec and I ran the O/S/O spring and the shimmed secondary I was seeing 10700 RPM and top speed on the speedo was 123 MPH. I had never seen this before! Before these changes the best that I had seen was 113MPH at 10100 RPM. So what's the formula if this does not work, but from what I'm seeing something changed to give me 10 MPH more on the speedo!

in your case the higher rpm's are giving you more speed. these rpm;s wont hurt anything, but if you want them lower put 1 or 2 grams back in the tip. some people say their motors run best at 10300, others at 10700. we have found the same results as yamanator, 10500 to 10700 is fine.

What RPM?
I have a bone stock '05 Rx-1 and top end I see about 10-10,100 RPM. It sounds like I should be seeing higher or is that only with clutch adjustment? I want as much top end speed as I can get so please let me know what the deal is.

go to your dealer and get an orange/silver/orange primary spring. this will raise your shift out rpm and should raise top rpm and speed.

These modifications change where the power is made.I have to disagree guy's, my sled with the after market exhaust wont pull worth crap at 10,300.
ECP w/ EVAC
YOU GET YOUR BEST SPEED WHERE IT MAKES THE MOST POWER.
THAT MEANS 10300 FOR STOCK MOTOR.

Does anyone know the + or - % of inaccuracy in the Tachometer? If these units are similar to some cars the tach could read as much as 500rpm's high or low. I have seen as much as 1,000 rpm variation on some cars. The variation I see is from the stock tach to an aftermarket tach (ie) Autometer.

I'm not exactly sure why, but when my PTO seal was leaking oil on the clutches and the motor was turning 10,600+ at WOT I was able to get speeds in the 185+ kph (115+ mph) on snow (sometimes - 175 kph always). The sled was also running NGK CR10EK plugs, but everything else was stock.
Now with a new belt, stock plugs, and worn clutch springs with over 9000 kms on it, the motor is only turning about 9900 rpm after a long WOT run and I can't get it much over 160 kph (100 mph) on the speedo.
I always found it would pull harder and to a higher top speed when the rpms climbed over 10,400. This was with the CR10EK plugs though.
One thing to add - my track is shot and stretching very badly. This might have something to do with the drop in top speed. At this point I won't even try top speed (now that I've seen how bad the track is).

If that's the case how come I'm seeing 10 MPH more with my stock motor ? And it's revving 10700 RPM

primary spring
So Grader, all I have to do is tell them I want the orange/silver/orange primary spring and they'll know what I'm talking about? Is there instructions on settings to install it at? What does the spring cost?
