I have an 08 LTX with 1200 miles on it so far. Only problem is overheating in marginal snow. I read of people having problems with their units (exhaust donuts, squealing belts, cracking rails, bad wheels etc) but very few have said they have had no or very few problems. Makes me a little nervous. It might be encouraging to hear about any high milers out there who have had no real concerns after thousands of miles. How about it, lets hear from you ;)!

1500 miles on 06 Attak. most of my bogey wheels have been replaced and i go through slides very quickly. i've added the marginal snow wheel kit to help with that. last season, i overheated several times in good snoe and low temps so i drained and refilled the antifreeze with 60/40 and water wetter. my fingers are crossed.

06 Vector GT. The only real issue I had with it is the oil tank cracked at 2200 miles. It now has 6000 with no major issues.

06 Attak. 6000 miles. No issues.

Everything breaks or has flaws. You just have to be ready for them. I have replaced donuts on both, skid wheels, etc. Nothing that would leave me stranded. Nothing I consider a big deal. I ride about 3000 miles a year and do all the preventative maintanence in the spring and then just keep an eye on everything.

The oil tank was a big issue to me. That could really ruin your day..and engine.

3400ish miles. My exhaust donuts needed to be replaced and I have gone through multiple (4 sets)idler wheels. I replaced my hyfax at the end of last season but they didnt really need to be replaced. Other than that...its been all good.

Well...everything wears, and everything breaks.

These yammis have their own little issues. Im glad there not big issues like some of the other manufacturers are having.

Im getting prepared for the exhaust donuts on my Apex.

I changed out the skid to an Poo skid. I just wanted a little different ride. My wife rides and LTX and she really likes the ride. Im just too much a fat #*$&@ for it!

3500 miles here and both drive line berrings on the clutch side were completely shot!! i have never seen berrings look this bad without them being completely destroyed. i really hope yamaha takes a close look at this problem and adresses it for the 2010 modles!! before somebody says something... dont even try to tell me yamaha cant find a better berring! other than that i wouldnt trade my apex for anything!!! its the most reliable and comfortable sled i have ever owned by along shot!!!

Yeah, you really need to keep tabs on that drive axle bearing. I cracked the W-arm, and a few wheels got shredded after season 1. I had the EC revalved stiffer w/HD spring and an '08 or re-inforced arm installed before the first ride last season. Halfway through I had exhaust donuts replaced (common issue) but I am pleasantly surprised that the W-arm, and wiring is intact. All in all, 5300 miles, and it's still a great sled. Even when parts break, I have never been stranded by a Yamaha 4-stroke.

4,500 mile on my '06 Attak. Had a couple idlers delaminate and the RA cable broke once, but that's about it, knock on wood. Better reliability than my 'Cat so far.

For those of you newer to Yamaha, don't get to overzealous on changing hyfax. They all wear quite a bit at first, and then go a long, long time and still have enough material left.
I ride in marginal snow quite a bit, and with 1700 miles, I've just installed my 3rd set, however, the ones I took off were just fine, I did it because I powdercoated the rails.

I can't post on this thread but I could post on it's anti-thread. It would be a very long post totalling 0ver 8G's in parts alone over three seasons. The only person who can actually post here is the one who leaves their sled in the garage.

I have over 6000 miles and I have no major problems. Replaced boggie wheels and drive shaft bearing and thats it other than fluids and hyfax every season.

2005 Superchrged RX1. 5,000 k. New to me, but I have been over it and seems to be no issues other than 1 bad idler bearing. Previous owner said he had no problems.

07 Vector GT new in 08 . Wifes sled, 2500 km, no issues.

06 Apex GT, 6500k. Ohlins shock blew a seal year two after warranty expired.Yammie replaced it with a rebuilt so I had no down time. Thats it. No slide issues, No wheel issues. [Yammie replaced centre ones nc before there was likely to be an issue]. Hand warmers were not great but they gave me better ones which are fine other than the real cold weather and I have muffs which I needed once in 4 years. Great sled.

04 Warrior [predecessor to the Attak] 12,000 k . No issues to speak of other than it seemed to run hot although the light never came on. Yammie gave me a rear exchanger, I suppled protectors and dealer installed for free. Also developed a slight leak near a hose clamp.

6 two stroke triples between 1998 and 2003 over 60,000 k . The 01 700 had a waterpump seal develop a slow leak in year 3 which Yammie warrantied even though my warranty had expired 2 years earlier. Thats it for all 6 sleds.

None of the above 10 sleds ever had a failure which came close to leaving me on the Trail . Wish I could say the same about my Cats and 1 Poo.

I have never replaced hyfax or a belt even on any of these sleds and have driven them up to 12 K before selling them. Hyfax wear quickly the first few hundred and then pretty much stop wearing when they get close to the wear line.

I also never greased a driveshaft, jackshaft or idler wheel. Replaced the odd noisy suspension bearing on occasion. [Maybe I was lucky. I am greasing everything this year.]

I have nothing but good to say about Yamaha sleds, Yamaha Canada and my dealer.

Doo customer service was very poor, Polaris non existant, Cat tried but their product broke too much for me.

I have about 3500 miles on my RTX and had 1 bogey wheel shred at about 300 miles. This year I cleaned and re greased all wheel bearings , drive shaft and jack shaft bearing. I just replaced second bogey wheel because of bearing that was seized. 1st set of hyfax went almost 3000 miles. Will be watching the exhaust donuts closely, but no prob so far!

Everything wears, and there'll always be maintainence issues. I think it comes down to how hard you ride and in what kind of conditions, as well as your attention to upkeep.
hayastusa.
I know it sucks to have to put alot of money into a sled, how about letting us know what types of issues you've had to deal with. Keep it positive here, and everyone will gladly help! 8k sounds like alot! Was any of that modifications, and were there issues with any of those?

6500kms on my '08 APEX L-TX and replaced donuts at 5000kms and had to get the chain case gasket put back in place it was leaking it got sucked in which is common on high speed riding due to excessive HEAT build up and also replaced the SPEEDO bearing which I do every year no matter what, IDLERS are fine I replaced them when sled was new with replaceable `6205`bearing type, HYFAX still have over half wear other than NON HEATING hand warmers I can`t realy complain their VERY reliable...

Snowmobiles have to be the HIGHEST maintenance toy you can buy...theirs so much variance in riding conditions and is so dependent on them...if your not the least MECHANICALY inclined you better have a FAT wallet and be very patient `DOWNTIME` at the dealers...I go over my sled after every ride and in the spring it comes apart and check every wear point and change parts if need to, grease and replace bearings...etc.
