Why did yamaha change

I think it would have been smarter to stick with the flip-up hood with the headlight attached. From what I hear, its a pain in the a$$ to access the top of the motor now. They probably did it to look "cool". At the same time, there is no reason they couldn't still have done their cosmetic changes.

Because a 4 stroke motor is heavier, they took every ounce possible out of the hood and headlight pod to get a large share of the 06 weight reduction, rider forward was a big factor too as to why that changed.

I do like the design, but I am sometimes blinded by the fact that I prefer function over form. In other words if the design makes engineering sense that is the beauty I see, vs just thinking about how the sled looks.

Just looked again at my 06 brochure, Apex vs Vector. You have a very valid point, Delta 1 sleds look great always have, always will

Man you aint kiddin...

Changing the plugs or adding coolant is a Friggin pain in the #*$&@!! The engine is now tilted back 3 degrees furthur than the Rx-1 so getting the plugs out really sucks! Its a 1 Hr job... and the bolts that hold the plug wires in are too long and lock tighted!! WTF were yamaha thinking when they put it all together :drink:

I dont think the Headlight is as bright as last year either!
