Why should I replace the front end bushings?

I have 7000 miles on my sled and I was planning on getting Ulmers bushing kit. Because so many people say how quick there bushings wear out so quick. My question is Why should I replace them? What good does it bring me? I noticed that my A-Arms have play in them but will my sled handle better with the new bushings in? Or am I a risk of hurting something by not replacing the bushings?

was metal to metal.

If you have a lot of slop change them. Sort of like ball joints on a car.

If you wear through the plastic bushing's you are wearing directly on the bulk head. If the bulk head gets egg shaped you will never have a tight front end again. I did my bushing's at about 5,000 mi, One was just going through, Cought it just in time!! kviper

I had a little slop in my bushings at 7,800 miles. I did the tear down to get access. I didn't beat the 10 minute time. they were worn, and I have new ones on the way from Port. I don't see any way after market bushings can wear any better than the stock ones.

I have a question about the bushings in the rear suspension. Mine feel tight. Is it normal for them to wear, like the front?

I ordered another 04 RX1 bogey. only $17, and change.

i thought the 10 min time was for changing plugs, if someone changed
all the bushings, he's my hero.

I was talking about 10 minutes to get access to the bolts, and the oil filter. My new bushings are in the mail.

Was that 10 minute plug change on the trail? I thought it was the trail plug change to FEEL the extra 3 HP of the EK plugs, and much smoother running. Then you change them back, and it runs like crap again.

Do your a-arms have front to back play? If so the Ulmer Racing bushings will eliminate that. The Ulmer Racing bushings are made to tighter tolerances and from an oil impregnated bronze which will improve the life of the bushings as well.

I noticed that your website says you are out of bushings.

If you look in the Ulmer Racing section, he says he expects them just about any day now.

I would definately change them.... while you have your sled half torn apart make sure you change the upper an lower bushing in the ski spindals. I would also definately recommend changing the bushings in the steering column (3 pairs total). Lastly drop the rear skid and change those too. All mine were worn out or cracked. I reassembled with extra grease fittings in all the critical points to keep these new bushings in better condition. Cant believe how tight everything feels now... like brand new again!
