(I posted this same message on Totallyamaha site, and they asked me to post it here, too)
I currently have a 2002 SXr 700, and I am considering stepping into a 2003 or 2004 RX-1.
I "think" I want to try out the 4-stroke, but will I be happy??
I don't do any ice racing, mostly ride on groomed trails, and some state parks in my area. I ride the SXr pretty agressive (I road race motorcycles in the summer), so I like leaning/sliding the sled through the turns at high rates of speed.
Some things I don't like about the 2-stroke are the noise (but I wear ear-plugs, so no big deal) and the smell (even though I REALLY love the smell in the beginning of the snow season) after a few rides everything smells like carbonized Yamalube.
Any advice from others that have made the same swap would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
MJB
