Just saw some crazy deals. After I saw a buddy just bought a 2016 vector xtx for $8900 before tax with no setup fees I was amazed, and concerned. With new models hopefully showing up in march, dealers with huge inventory, lack of snow, little snow remaining, dealers closing, Doo and Cat offering huge deals with warranties things look good for the immediate consumer, but not the existing owners, or for manufacturing . Here are two examples of pricing I've seen. Yes some are manufacture sleds with mechanical warranties, but some aren't. My yamaha dealer only sold 30% of his inventory, and my cat dealer had 27 in boxes yesterday. Neither will touch the prices I just posted yet, but may have too, to compete, and liquidate. Meaning lower resale value for us owners now, and huge losses for the dealer's .
Fyi I'm not promoting this dealer. Never used them...., but shows us the sad state of no snow by March releases

Yes, everyone's sled is worth less this season new & used. Once in a decade buying opportunity. Take a long time view of the sport. I've always loved riding and always will. Perfect time to upgrade one of my 3 sleds and wait 'till next fall to sell the extra.

- Bought a new 05 Vector which I still have
24K miles
To answer the question you posted....IMO.....it won't "kill" the values" but it will certainly lower them.
A new Nytro for $6995? If I was in the market for a sled like this, that seems like a sweet deal!

I called a dealer and asked the trade in valve of my 08 apex mtx SE with 4000 km and they offered me 3600$ what a joke. Sled is I'm showroom condition too.

To a dealer the money is in the new sleds. They have sleds in crates burning holes in their pockets, they HAVE to get rid of them. Who wants to pay on and store last years sleds AND have to deal with the new years models next season making inventory that much bigger. So the used sleds or trade ins, they really don't want them, its a burden on them to have yet another sled to have to sell, one that "steals" from new sled sales, and the margin is usually low. So to make it enticing to them in this poor sales year they make low offers on the trades, if they get a sled, fine, they'll deal with it, but to not take on another sled in the inventory is just as fine with them. They'd rather the used market fight it out privately while they deal with trying to salvage the season and at least show a tiny profit.
One thing is for sure: If you've ever thought "Hey, I'd like to buy a brand new sled once in my life" This very well may be the year to go for it, prices are going to go thru the floor in the next 3-4 weeks, markets are seeing the first real adjustment since 2008, investment money is being held tight, snow conditions are some of the worst in over 20 years, it all culminates to a buyers paradise. Maybe put it in your dealers ear that your ready to buy, Is he ready to make the deal to sell? Come mid-march they're gonna be begging for money to release their burden and deals will be made by the savvy quick. The buying frenzy will occur in a matter of days, be ready to swim with the sharks. I've already picked out my mark, they were willing to go low 9's on a 2016 Viper or Apex xtx, I'm sure next month I can weasel another grand, a full gear setup, and <.9% for 60 out of them, they have left 12 of 15 Vipers and 6 of 8 Apexs in the crate on their allotment.

that's why i don't trade or sell but once every 6-8 years and even then i buy used. this is also why i ride a yamaha so that they last that long and keep some value

I like this..............FUEL had a 13' Vector that I'm kicking myself for not buying at 6,995 a couple months ago..................A Nytro could have been yours for that price when the Viper came back........I hope the prices fall more this summer and I might buy me a new sled or two!!!!!

Wow those are crazy prices. Never will prices be that low in Canada I dont think. If the exchange rate was better I would be taking a little trip down there to buy some sleds.
That new nytro for 7 grand is worth more than that in parts. The viper for 8 grand is even a bigger steal. I have some buddies that spring ordered vipers last year, sleds were like 19000 cdn out the door.

Not new, but used they've fallen hard. I just bought an almost new Viper XTX for 2010 Nytro money, and I was the only one that called the guy. Of course now I have to give away my Renegade but.... So to the OP, yes it's definitely gonna hurt. But you're probably buying as well as selling.
Of course they put complete sleds on sale for crazy prices, but try and find a deal on parts!?!?!? $1000 installed for a 1+1 seat with heat, no deals to be found anywhere.
