will removing studs ruin track?

looking for some info on holes in track.
I want to try studs on out side of track, but if i don't see an imprivement in takeoff on ice or lose on top end then I will be removing them.
will the holes that i leave make the track weaker and blow out??
right now i have 144 in the middle and on ice, it just spins. i may ad 24 or 48 more on the outside.

My opinion is that the holes without studs in them are much less likely to damage the track than if the studs were actually there. Don't get me wrong, I stud my track out there too, but the stud is much more damaging than the hole.

Every time I've ever had a track with studs in it, I've removed the studs. Never had a problem with the holes.

Shouldn't hurt at all. Mountain riders are drilling 3/4' - 1' holes in the track to lighten it up and reduce the snow build-up, and Doo has started doing it from the factory. I don't think little stud holes will hurt much.

I have removed studs before and ran the track 2 years before I sold the sled, No Problems. I still think you will still spin on ice. You will need alot more studs.

Where were you going to put the studs in the track? -On the outside edges? IMHO 48 won't do much of anything except ---put a ton of stress on each one and I think they would be much more apt to rip out (pull thorough). The "outside will help you in the corners -- If you really want to hook up better run them down the middle and run at least 96.

Tell me if I'm wrong, I just didn't want to see this guy ruin a track.

If you read his entire post you will see that he has 144 studs already.

I ran 168 in the middle, didn't like the added push in the corners and re-located the center most studs, to the outside. Yep, you read that right, added push.
