I am missing about 4 nuts and screws for my windshield on my 06 Apex GT. I was looking and couldn't find anywhere to buy these online. I would go to the dealership but really don't want to get hosed on them. Has anyone else replaced these and know a price. I found one place but were asking $4 per piece for the nuts and screws.

Try an autobody supply store, they usually carry some things like plastic screws and rubber nutserts.

The black nylon screws are just over $1.00 a piece. If your talking about the metal nut that sits inside the rubber grommets which are mounted to the headlight pod, those I think those will have be bought from a dealer. I couldn't even find the nylon screws at our hardware store let alone looking for those special nuts. Maybe a Granger catalog?

You can find the screws at Port Yamaha for $1.63ea but by the time you pay the freight unless you are buying other stuff you will likely eat up any cost savings.

Upon investigation of my problem, I found that the four bolts I was missing actually snapped off in the rubber expanding nut. Thus, the nuts were still expanded and I couldn't get them out to replace with new ones I picked up at a local dealership. I tried to drill the plastic screws out and had little sucess. What did work however was I took a pliers and a small nail and heated up the nail. Once the nail was red hot I stuck it into the middle of the plastic screw and then let it cool. I was then able to spin the screw back out of the nut and insert my new screws. Worked quite well! Just a little bit I learned incase someone else breaks off their windshield screws.

If you split your gauge/headlight pod open, you can reach the screws from the inside. Just replaced 2 before the TY ride last weekend.

yup, that's what i did, unscrew the remains from the inside, all i had to do was replace the screws.

(good items to carry in the trunk, spare screws and nutzerts)
