Last year I used 144 woodys studs with single and double angled backers with the smaller big nuts. Most of the double backer studs started to work loose and came out. I talked to woodys and them told me I should NOT use locktite and I need to retighten after 100 miles.

after you retighten the studs did you have any more issues????????

My buddy had them in his F7, 4000 miles and never lost one or bent one.

Last year on my 05 RX-1, I put 120 studs down the middle. I only ordered 96 of the big nuts, so I used 24 regular nuts. I had NO studs with the big nuts on bend, but I had 8 out of 24 studs with the regular nuts on bend. Bottom line is when you are using a long stud, such as is needed with an 1 1/4 inch track, the big nuts do make a difference. Go with the larger of the big nuts, and stay away from Woody's studs. They are threaded less and are crap studs.

For anyone who is using aluminum nuts on steel studs.
you can only use loctite on aluminum if you use a special primer for aluminum that loctite sells.
i attended a 5 hour class held by loctite a few years ago and this point was made crystal clear by the guys running it. (2 loctite product engineers)

has anyone tried the spacers that are sold by mack studs??
it is a steel sleeve that goes over the stud then you tighten on the nut over it. saw them at the n.h. grassdrags yesterday. pretty cheap $18.00 for 96
and they are pretty light. obviously not as light as aluminum but still pretty light
