How are the windshields measured?

Where to get one that actually works as a windshield? (without looking like a patio door)

I get a sickening amount of wind noise from my RX1,so I tried ducking down... had to get my head right on the bars (about a foot lower)to get rid of the wind noise...

Windshiels measures 15" straight up from the cowl/dash area...

Likely compounded by the windshield being so far away...

Thanx...

it probably has as much to do with the shield on your helmet as it does the windshield. i have a regular full face helmet with electric shield that is really quiet at speed, but my modular has a lot of edges that seem to make a lot of wind and whistling noises.

not without some modding.

have you looked at the rs venture windsheilds (in deltabox 1)? that would bolt right on your sled.

Get a BV2S helmet. Quiet, quiet, quiet. Best investment I've made in the last 20 years of sledding.

I would like to know what exactly has to be done to fit the apex windshield on an rx1 preferably from someone who has actually done it.

You are correct on the way you are measuring. I have a '06 Nytro, with the same windshield you have, 15", and I'm not getting all the wind noise you're talking about. I use a BRP Mod 2 helmet, and its a quiet helmet, and maybe thats the difference. I'm 5' 10", and the sled has an Apex seat, which puts me up higher than stock RX1, but they are the same Delta box 1 chassis. I also have an Apex, with the stock windshield, and the wind protection is about the same on both sleds, no complaints here.
Like it was said above, you might want to think about a different helmet.

Also, remember if you get into modding the sled to accept a different windshield, that the plastic trim piece that goes on the front of th windshield that "dresses up" everything, costs over $100.00. Also the piece that forms your dash that the gauge pod mounts to is also over $100.00. I had a minor mishap that damaged both of those pieces, and when i saw how much they cost new(i couldn't find used ones), i did my best to cobble things back together instead of wasting over $200.00, since the whole thing could be broken again the next time i go out. And, no, im not an aggressive rider at all. So, before you experiment, be sure you know what you're getting into. A windshield that isn't made to fit your sled isn't going to help. It's all about your helmet or your seated height on the sled. I know when i went from my 2000 sxr 700 to my 2005 warrior, wind noise was much more noticeable, but im sitting more forward and on top of the sled, plus i ride faster in all circumstances, because of the awesome torque, and improved handling of the warrior over the sxr.

I love my Venture windshield I installed on my RX! You probably wont like it! Ya it big but it works! Best damn thing I did for trail riding. No more frozen knees at -30!
