Winshield - Stock vs Something else

Was surfing craigslist and found a guy selling the factory blue windshields cheap. I bought one thinking it was pretty much exactly what I had but the cool anodiized looking blue.

Well...its not. My current windshield (which may or may not be stock). is a bit higher and quite a bit wider. Has these other pieces that screw into side panels to deflect the wind away from you.

I definetly like the look of this smaller windshield but certainly dont want to make it much colder to ride than it allready is. Maybe those wind defflectors dont do much.

Question is:

Ive seen many on here with this same exact windshield that I just purchased, (the lower blue one with the yamaha logo on it).

Was it that much friggin colder?

That is probably the SE windshield. I don't find it cold.
