I bought a heated visor install kit from my local Yamaha dealer. They told me to wire it to the 12 volt accessory plug on the left side (I don't have the plug just used the connector - I think the wires are orange/black strip and black)). I did but it didn't work (my helmet has an LED light when its working). My other option is to wire it directly to the battery (with a fuse) but I would prefer to only have power when the engine is running.

Which wires should I tap into to wire the heated visor plug?

I did a search and found nothing for the Phazers.

Thanks in advance.

As long as you make sure that you unplug your visor, there's nothing wrong with connecting it directly to the battery with a fuse at the battery. Although I have the accessory plug and using a homemade lighter to RCA adapter, I'll be installing a dash mounted plug with a cover and will hook it up directly to the battery to avoid any problems.

But the wire you connected to seems to be the right one according to the wiring schematics. Did you put in a fuse? Maybe the factory didn't put one in since you didn't have the accessory plug. It should be a 3A. This is the order of the fuses shown in the schematic:
4A= Gear motor fuse
3A= Aux DC jack fuse
20A= Headlight fuse
7.5A= Signal fuse
15A= Radiator fan motor fuse
20A= Ignition fuse

Thanks Mooseman. I will try it again tonight with a multimeter when the engine is running to make sure I'm getting power.

I noticed on the right side of the engine above the battery there is a connector not being used. It has a blue and black wire. Does anyone know what that is used for?

wire it straight to the battery...ive never even used a fuse and have never had a problem

Hope you've got fire insurance...

Ok got it all hooked up. I did use the connector for the 12 volt outlet for the heated visor plug. Confirmed it works with my volt meter and some 12 volt lights when the engine is running. This time I cut off the OEM connector, soldered blade connectors to it so I can unplug the heated visor cord if required. Works perfect now.

Mooseman how did you do it with the fuse please explain.
