Can't figure it out, I don' have to commit to anything, just come in, sign up for the warranty coupon just in case I do buy something next fall, they give me a new hat and I walk out the door.
I would think that dealers would have a problem with this, at least when you had to put money down on a new order most of the time they knew that that order would be sold. Seems under this program that they will be sticking their neck out ordering sleds and not knowing if they will sell them all. Or worse yet what if with the economy making them nervous they cut their orders and then don't have enough, keeping prices high because the shortage.
Seems strange to me, what does everyone else think.

The economy is forcing some savy marketing to attract customers. Have you seen the deals on '09's? WTH, in Maine, you can but a brand new '09 Vector LTX for $8,000! Clearly the best deal in sledding. Anywho, there's probably an incetive from Yam to the dealer on these early sign-up packages.

From what a yamaha dealer told me is without no deposit this way they are locked in to you, this way they can build what they think is enought inventory for the dealers to sell with the way things are right now this year and if it gets worse dealers wont get stuck with extra sleds.

I'm not sure what dealers think of this, but I'd think they would get a better idea what to order for inventory. For example are 30% of people looking for Nytro XTX, or 10% Apex GT or 40% Vector GT, or ? or? I still think there is a big risk since they don't have people with money down, but on the other hand maybe they think the economy will turn around a bit by Nov 09, and folks wouldn't have put money down anyway. This way they at least know what to order if things turn around...

My local dealer dous'nt like it, Buyers have no obligation to buy when sled comes in, if they don't want it dealer gets stuck with another sled to sell and pay floor plan on.

Ya, I'm sure most dealers aren't gonna order any stock sleds. They'll just order the sleds that people put their names on, and then when half of them back out, they'll have their inventory. Its a joke. Should not be good for any dealers.

guys, voucher does not guarantee you a sled or a specific sled. ( colors, options, etc.) Dealers aren't going to order sled just because you have a voucher. Now if you want to put $$ down that's another story.
I think this just helps Yamaha and dealers gauge interest for next year, people who might buy if they still have jobs.
I'am gonna get a voucher even though its slim to none that I'll buy a 2010, but who knows maybe Uncle Sam will bail me out and send me some $$$$$$

I talked to a local shop about this same question for the RTX SE and they said they are requesting customers to put $500 down to ensure that you get the sled you want.
Also said that the RTX SE will be hard to get again this year but if that is true why can I find new '09 SE sleds for sale at WI dealers now??
It is a strange way of doing things but whatever works for them.
We got a Phazer on the race program this year and it came with a warranty which really surprised us! First time in 8 years of racing sleds I got a warranty, nice!!
I will print the cetificate out just in case we do it again next year!
Are the warranty's transferable?

Dealers would be "crazy" to order every sled that was in the voucher request.

As a dealer, it really does not help us out at all. It just gives us a gauge for next year. We are going to try to get deposits in order to order the sleds and a lot of our Yammies are custom sleds that we try to get in as early as possible and put on a bunch of goodies, so most of the guys are putting some type of money down.

That is a GREAT question.
I hope so. I might get a voucher for an 2010 warranty just in case.

I would not take voucher unless I wanted 2010 sled. I would be afraid to show my face at dealer & not follow thru & screw him over with extra inventory. Someone could very well want sled...take voucher & lose job which WILL happen now dealer screwed too. Bad program recovery long way off maybe Q2 2010 year from now.
