Yamaha is not shutting down anything other than dissolving the Cat agreement, they are not buying Cat or they would have before Textron.
Here is where this thread derailed, and a business mindset was lost. Just because Yamaha could have, doesn't mean it would have been a smart business decision. They knew that Textron has little interest in the snow division. They wanted the dirt division and dealer network.
Why buy the whole thing, if they can pick up what they truly want at a huge discount once Textron moves on. That's making an assumption that they would. But it's a win/win either way as they would get their engines sold in Cat dealerships easier and probably be more profitable by letting Textron keep it.
