I have a Yama charger on my apex thinking of getting a Sidewinder but maybe a Fpp 2 stage turbo would love to see the results against these two sleds !!! Thanks for any info !!!!
Thanks my cousin Sidewinder is 245 with muffler and it’s really strong down low and mid range but I only have a Yama charger 2 lbs boost looking for more but his sled rides so good I’m thinking going that way !!! His sled is an Ltx le !!!I've raced my Sidewinder against MbarryRacings (site member) stage 2 turbo apex from FPP with his full motec standalone ecu. Me at 15.5 psi. Him at 17psi I believe.
Both of our clutching wasn't perfect at the time (not hitting the peak rpms we were looking for). Both sleds 137. So me at roughly 265 hp him at around 290/300hp.
Hole shot on big moose lake in the adirondaks we were both within a ski of eachother for the first 250 maybe 300 feet. From there he slowly started pulling away from me. Not blowing the doors off of the Sidewinder but beating it with much better legs on top. Low end they were very similar. Mid range with his setup at the time he had the power advantage. Top end he pulled but id distance was longer the gearing I was running would have possibly reeled him back in.
I now have made clutching changes along with adding a motec standalone ecu to my Sidewinder so we will run again whenever we get snow here in NY again. And he has some changes to make to spin the apex a little faster yet.
Straight line racing power for power the apex will likely always have the edge if distance is long enough. Anything as far as trail riding is concerned if it isn't just pure flat strait aways the Sidewinder will be the better trail rocket and all around machine imo
LTX LE is what I'm running. I had a 2011 apex with EPS. Loved it but even with the turbo I wouldn't choose it over the Sidewinder if it was simply a matter of choice and not cost. The Sidewinder offers basically the same power and then excells better in every other riding category. Suspension. Seating position and comfort. Weight. Big bump compliance. Headlight visibility. Etc. You do lose on fit and finish, exhaust tone and stock skis but that's about it. And skis and exhaust can both be made better with a simple swapThanks my cousin Sidewinder is 245 with muffler and it’s really strong down low and mid range but I only have a Yama charger 2 lbs boost looking for more but his sled rides so good I’m thinking going that way !!! I know his sled has curve skis and it handles excellent and yes the ride is a lot better then my sled I’m really thinking of going that way thank you for your input!!!!!LTX LE is what I'm running. Yes you might be right but I’m thinking it’s time for new iron I do love my 08 Apex but it has high miles and I’m getting older, would love a new ride. And the Sidewinder is a good looking sled!!!!Turbo Apex should be faster. FPP kits work great for trail riding. My brothers nytro motor is down with Justin now getting built.

Ran with a turbo Apex all day Saturday, he said he was set at 9 psi of boost, 144 track with 1.75 lug.
My Sidewinder xtx 137 running TD Powertrail, turboforce muffler, also running 1.75 backcountry track.
We never raced from a dead stop as we were racing corner to corner or first across the lake trail riding, and the Apex was a good competition, but not quick enough or fast enough on top end either.
It was a good day for the Sidewinder!
I haven’t had a good stretch to really wind it out as the conditions here are pretty rough, but it’ll hit 185 km/hr easily, even in a few inches of snow on the trail, then I chicken out because of the drifts and bumps! What top end speeds are you getting with the 1.75 lug track on your Sidewinder?
