Put my 08 rs vector away last year running great. Pulled it out today with a dead battery. It was new last year. (wtf) Charged the battery, now it turns over and wont start. I dont even get the dash pod to show me anything, no headlights, nothing. I am wondering if there is a fuse, or something that needs to be reset aftre battery issue, or what????? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Ok, here goes. The instrument panel will not light up untill the engine is running. You probably aren't getting any gas to the carbs. The fuel pump is dry and won't suck. Don't be alarmed this is normal after long storage. Locate your fuel tank vent hose which is plugged into the frame above the left foot hole. (under hood behind secondary) Unplug the hose and blow in it to presurize the fuel tank. Hold your tongue over the end of the hose to prevent the tank from losing presure. With the tank presurized crank the engine with full choke. After a short time the engine should fire and all will be good. I have to do this every year and it always works. Mine is an 05 which I bought new.

If you put it away last year running great, the carbs are probably plugged up and it won't run unless it is choked. The gas sitting in the carbs will plug the jets. If you get it running as described above, and it won't stay running without the choke on partially, its carb cleaning time. ;)!

Thanks handy i will try that, let you know.

It will work, just be patient as it may take a few times before you get it.
Some use a compressor but be careful of excess pressure!
(Obviously, make sure your gas tank cap is on tight as well)

Also, to check your battery/dash, push down and hold on the thumb warmer button THEN turn on the key and wait 10-15 seconds.

All dash lights including the headlight should illuminate.

Good luck.

had to change plugs with same prob ...twice. got lucky this year started just when battery was ready to calf out

your welcome, but I don't deserve the credit for this fix. It is a fix from the RX forum which I read about in the fall of 05 and have used seccessfully every year.
