The Venture Multipurpose (Canada and Scandinavia) looked very interesting, until I saw the weight! Only 40 lbs lighter then the RS Venture! What!!??!! I hope there will be some demo-rides near me, so I can make up my own mind on these things... The Phazer FX and the Mountain Lite looks like a riot!!! I just don't understand why the Venture Multi is over 100 lbs heavier, 50-60 I could understand, but 100+???? :o|

Just how many Indy 500's have been sold over the years with what 55-60 hp and they would run 95-100 mph flat out and you bought it for mom and the kids, even dad would take it as a spare or if he's rocket ship blew up. I haven't seen one up close but they are on the right track getting down in size, how are you going to get the kids to buy Yami if they rode everything else growing up? I can't wait to throw one into a sharp turn!!!!

Buy one!

This might shed some light on the power question, since most of us have spent time on a good OLD Phazer. Try to remember how the ran...actually they were pretty strong and with a pipe and some mild porting and around 72 HP, they were a blast to ride!

This is the power to weight calculation I came up with for comparison.

Apex GT 3.8 lbs/hp

Vector GT 4.6 lbs/hp

Original Phazer 7.1 lbs/hp

New PhaZer 5.6 lbs/hp

I think the new PhaZer is TOTALLY REVOLUTIONARY! I also think that anyone who considers THE FUN FACTOR of riding snowmobiles and can break, if just for a moment, the idea that every one here needs to be the first guy to the other end of the lake...you will realize that this sled wil KILL YOUR APEX OR YOUR NITRO OR YOUR VECTOR from corner to corner...REGARDLESS OF THE DIFFERENCES IN HP!

If you trail ride hard and like Snowcross style ditch banging, YOU NEED A NEW PHAZER...

Now, consider this...

A mildly "Super Charged Phazer" with FI and a weight of 460 lbs and a cost to finish that is roughly the same as an Apex GT.

This is the HP to weight comparison...

Apex GT 3.8 lbs/hp

Super Charged Phazer 3.9 lbs/hp

Which on would you rather ride?

A 460 pound sled with 115 hp and the same power to weight as an Apex GT

or

A 560 pound 148 hp Apex GT with the same power as the Phazer Super Charged?

Uh...

The PhaZer is one wicked ride my friends...

Watch snowcross racing next year and don't be surprized to see good old "Blue" in the winners circle once again!

Yep, I think this sled will be a blast to ride! Can't wait to really check this thing out! Thank You Yamaha! :yam:

If a 140 HP F7 that weights slightly more than the Phazer cannot 'kill me corner to corner' on my Attak or RX-1, how is this sled going to?
I'm sure it will be a fun sled. The video's look pretty damn cool, but I need alot of power and it just don't have it (yet). I'm no Blair Morgan or Corey Davidson, but in my 4 years of riding sleds, there hasn't been one person to ever pass me (except those who ride in my group.. good friggen luck keeping up with those guys). My last trip to the UP I sat and listened to how all these RTX, GT, REV, F7 owners thought they were the #*$&@ on the trails when we would stop for breaks, then I get stuck behind them looking for places to get past these people who ride like old ladies. THESE type of riders would have zero problems with a Phazer in the twisty trails. I would. Actually, the RTX rider was complaing about his handwarmers not working for #*$&@. It's cuz he rode like a wuss. Mine get smokin hot, but I'm RARELY below 8000 RPM. Riding behind him I'm having to sit around 6500 RPM through the turns.. that just kills the power to the heaters. Ride it like a porn star.. your hands will be warm. (sorry for the off topic rant or if I offended anyone)

I'd probably buy a Phazer, preferably the FX package. I don't think that 80 HP is too little, it's going to make up in torque for sure. It's basically the same weight as my Blair Morgan Rev, and I rarely go over 100 Km's, mostly looking for drifts and some untouched snow, ditchbanging all the time, so this sled will probably fit in just fine (add to the Yamaha collection) for me and my riding style. Main things I'm concerned with are the prices here in Canada, and a first hand unbiased rider report, then I'll decide.

Who pissed in your cereal this morning.... :D

Some early (maybe not set in stone i guess) MC Xpress Phazer Turbo info:

Half decent translation from swedish:

Yamaha's new engine doesn't have anything in common with a Motorcross engine. It's basically a "superbike" engine cut in half. That makes us at MCX sure that it can handle 150 hp without problems. There's also going to be a race-kit coming out at 200 hp.

I couldnt agree more... I ride it like its stolen and after 7 years of riding have never been passed or anyone in my group...

My brothers old 2002 polaris 2 up was a liquid 500 with i believe 85 hp and wouldnt break 70mph..

PUT TWO YZF-450 MOTORS SIDE BY SIDE,
A 900 CC WITH ABOUT 100-110 HP,
I'M SURE THEY'LL FIT, AND NOW......
YOURE TALKING ABOUT A SERIOUS
LIGHTWEIGHT DITCHBANGER!!!!!!!!

Gonna have to say no. The look is actually growing on me, but the Phazer with the decent shock package (which an adult would need if you're going to ride it very hard) is more then the cost of an F7 or Poo 600 HO. Makes no sense to spend $7000.00 + just to get a small 4 stroke engine. For ditch banging, a 2 stroke makes sense anyway. Not as many miles put on, no need for WOT for 50 miles and best power to weight ratio. As an entry level sled, maybe, but I can't see spending $6000.00 + on a sled for a 10 year old kid. I guess if you got the coin to drop, it would be a nice first sled, just not in my budget.

You are right, it is expensive, however, it WILL retain a lot of it's value and after all, you don't own entry level sleds forever...
