Wow really learned ‘Scratchers” WORK!!!- cooling

The cable scratchers work good but they will not stay up in the hooked position when not in use, they always unhook and you find them dragging wearing the tips out, because of their design its hard to tie wrap them up, I tried the holders from Royal Dist hoping they would work but they failed also, hooking them on the rail only wears a spot on your rail but they unhook there also, so I just took them off till I needed them, when trails get icy I will put them back on, interested in the Ski-Doo tunnel mount, they seem to stay hooked up when not in use which is what I want, nice, thanks for sharing your pics of them mounted.

I don't have any issues with our Duraflex cable scratchers staying up. I use an ss eyebolt along the rail and the scratchers are mounted on the rails. But I have a single shot and her a mono. Also never an issue fraying or tip wear or breakage.
We ride 1500 miles a year in awful conditions here in NH.

You must have a Single shot suspension? I can take a pic later today and post of mine as it's the same as your suspenion.
Just take time to locate the eye bolt so the cable tip has tension and will be easy to set in and take out. The Duraflex has been amazing. Always down really. In and out of the trailer with cleats on the trailer ramp door, backing out of the shed for local snow conditions plus all the miles logged. I use to go thru dozens of thos old fashion spring mounts. Ha.

Thanks for the info, I will pick up a set of ss eye bolts, yes I have the single shot, pics would be great, thanks so much.

on a side note I upgraded to a Hygear coil over and love it. No worries about loosing a seal and shock. got set up from them with a heavy spring also to fit my size and use.

Here is where I run mine. Made my own brackets. No drilling, bolt right on!

I have the updated shock for the Single Shot and seems to be holding up good so far, way better than the stock one my machine came with, Hygear was my next go to, glad to hear some positive reviews on the Hygear coil over, I would need the heavy spring to, they are pricy though here in Canada

That's interesting, that's a great idea, so you just hang them up on the skis and they stay in place till you need them? and the way these are mounted on the ski that gives you lots of cooling and slide lube on the icy trails?

Actyally mine stay down all season!
Some guys have put a clip on the ski to hold them. No issues burning up the tip neither. My buddy took the carbide tips off an put a bolt with a fender washer an that works good too.

Have not seen a temp light in a long time!! Helps out slides alot.

The eye bolts work, I have them and never have a problem with them falling out

I went out today with my VIPER STX DX and it has been COLD for a week and was warmer today the high got up to 7 below. There was NO REFREEZE but snow was ‘Cold Cruchy” if you know what I mean.

Link to what you bought? Would like to put these on my Apex.

So I thought I would have no issues with cooling ..wrong.
I noticed I was running warm at 185. ( normal is 165 to 175)

Hmm I thought should i try those scratchers- Doo dual spring reverse compatible rail mount installed after reading a post here on TY. Expensive place for me to read over the years

Notice the temps dropped right away....stopped at a road crossing and right at 163 and stayed right near there.

I have to admit I thought scratchers were for tall lugs, refreeze or icey trails did not know would be this big a difference. Happy camper here.
