my cable scratchers have stayed up great for 2 years now
 

Wow this simple post took off.

My report was about the rail mounted double loop Doo scratchers. THey stay up great and as stated really brought my temps down, never smelled or sensed slider plastic this day so cant comment on that but should be great. I am a great one for dragging toes in the snow in past when I do smell someone’s sliders, often not mine.

Then I think why am I ruining expensive boots to save relatively cheap sliders? Smile at myself and think you idiot just laugh and go spin in some loose snow.
 
cable scratchers on the 11 never want to stay on the rail so i leave them deployed all the time. might need to put some new bolts in the off season for the tips.
 
I have duraflex scratchers on my Wife’s Singleshot Vector. They stay up on the rails so far. But if they are down and you forget. They will stop you dead in your tracks. No pun intended. Lol when you drive up on a drive on trailer. They catch on the beginning of the deck. Happy with them but we have not put enough miles on them to be objective. I have the old wire type on mine. And as to be expected I have forgotten to raise them a few times in reverse. Not good!
But we all know after reading this post some scratchers are better than none!
 
Wow I didn’t realize the cable one came off the supports so much, my spring rail mounts I cant imagine coming off as there is significant pressure to lift on ‘hooks’.
 
I didn’t get a real chance to try out the doo scratchers yesterday, we just got about a foot of fresh snow so there was no issues with cooling yesterday lol. I did however try them along a plowed road at maybe 10km/hr just to have a quick look and even at that speed they kick up a lot of snow and looks like they’ll work just fine.
 
Maybe someone already suggested this but if I need scratchers down, I usually find that leaving one down is more than enough. I'll just alternate them during the day.

And as far as a cable mount, this is what I bought. I guess I got them from Duraflex as their name is on them. I don't remember it's been so long. They work well and the cables rarely come off by them selves.

Have not seen that type of hangers, my original hangers was a open end eye bolt, but snow and debris would knock them up and over the hook and deploying them, either 1 or both, just seems every time we stopped for a break they were dragging wearing out the tips before you actually needed them, I am going to give the stainless fully closed eyebolts a try, riding non groomed trails alot may have something to do with this happening all the time also.

I've used both open and closed loops and they occasionally came out. The ones I have now seem to work real good. I imagine they'll come off during off trial riding.
 
Was out yesterday and had no choice but to try out the brp scratchers. It was hard as a rock until about noon, and they worked awesome! Kept temps where they should be, provided good lube for the skid and the best part is, you don’t even have to get off the sled to unhook them or put them back up. Definitely worth the $165 IMO.
 
Nice! Zip tie! LOL I think for next year I’m going to take the aluminum sleeves and shorten them up a bit so the zip ties aren’t needed. I did put the zip ties on the outer side of the spring so that the spring nib that goes through the skid mount, goes through to the other side of it.

lol, I wondered what your zip ties were for until I installed mine. Then it made sense.
 
Also, when installing the hooks, the scratcher slipped out of my fingers and hit me in the knee.............that didn't feel very good. There were a few choice words lol
 
Yeah there’s quite some tension there lol. They work for now and do just fine, but when your riding and look down at them when they’re down, they do look like their a tad floppy so to speak. I think by shortening the aluminum sleeves by about 3/16” or so, there won’t be any play at all.
