As a WRP seat dealer I wanted to post up about this to avoid future confusion.

WRP sold their sled seat line to Seat Concepts. Seat Concepts plans to continue making the seats popular for our Yamaha's. The biggest change as of now is going to be lead time. WRP typically had seats in stock. Seat Concepts operates on more of a made to order basis which can result in up to a 4 week lead time.

My point....don't wait until a week before you have a trip to order one.

Thanks fot the heads up

Yea we snowmobilers tend to be enthusiastic right before trips and order some new ............. whatever. Really you want me to think ahead LOL

What's the norm on their ordering? You order a seat and send back the old one as a core? Or order a kit to upgrade your stock seat? Or do folks send off their seat to have redone and wait?

I was considering this kit for the Apex XTX this season.

I would highly recommend the upgrade. when you order the kit it comes with the foam and a new seat cover. you can do it yourself if you feel confident in it or you can take it to a local seat shop and pay them to do it ( if you go this route I suggest removing the old cover yourself to save on the cost) Travis will take a core trade for a done seat for an extra fee as well. I suggest you have a local shop do it and put your stock seat cover over the WRP foam it fits and has a much nicer trunk lid and is stealth too as it still looks stock.

Thanks for the quick response. That is truly what I think I really need is firmer foam or add foam. As I feel my seat is just too soft. If it were firmer, I would ride higher easily.

it would be cool if you could buy just the foam. Maybe I should take my seat to a local upholstery shop to do just That. I could pull the cover and give it a shot. Worst case, I give in and take it in.

Thanks again guys!

WRP/Seat Concepts seat is definitely a huge improvement, had a new one on my 15 Apex last season and hands down was far more comfortable.
With the soft stock seat I had sore a$$ from bottoming on the pan, actually it was my tailbone took a beating, maybe it's just me.
If stock cover is in decent shape, I would opt for that, as the SC seat cover is much "stickier", so sliding side to side for a little body English in the corners is not as easy. Also the trunk opening is less than ideal, I had the upholstery gal sew in a liner/apron to protect the trunk opening where the seat foam is exposed, can see the seat foam getting mangled from putting stuff in and out of the trunk over time.
My experience, the comfort and ride height is definitely improved, however be prepared for more wind on your chest and colder knees.
One thing I found with the stock seat while riding is that over time I found myself creeping forward on the seat due to it being a bit more smooth/slippery, and the fact the seat pan itself is designed with a forward leaning angle relative to the tunnel.
On the stock seat, I often had to re-adjust my seating position to get back farther in the saddle and stretch your knees and arms out, as well as keep the handlebars at a reasonable distance so they weren't in your chest on a tight turn.
The WRP/SC seat foam has this same forward angle basically, so that problem is still there. Adjusting your seating position on a much stickier seat takes a bit more effort, it would have been better if they had made the seat foam thicker at the front to flatten out the seating position.
Not bashing the SC product one bit, a quality product no doubt. It is an Apex seat design ergonomic thing that is/was my pet peeve.
Cheers guys!

This is great information for sure! TY.

I'm tempted to pull the staples on my seat when I pull the sled out in the fall. Go buy 2" of foam, and try to apply it under the stock foam. The only issue with that theory is I am assuming the stock foam is glued to the seat pan. So adding between the stock foam and the seat pan may be impossible. I don't care to add it on top between the stock foam and the seat cover, as I may change the shape horribly. I'm sure there was plenty of time put into shaping those WRP seat foam kits to get them right.

I see a tweener season project coming on.

actually the stock foam is not glued down. as far as sliding forward on the seat I thought the WRP seat fixed that and then I had my rear shock serviced and I started sliding forward again so it make me wonder if you can tune it out of the suspension. also a 2.5 pivot riser is perfect with the seat upgrade no need to extend any cables just run throttle under the bars and it fits perfect.

That's good to hear, as I have been using the Powermadd 2.5" pivot riser on my last two Apex's, and Phazer. It looks like ape hangers, but very comfortable sitting to standing. But a bit taller seat would make it nearly perfect.

Does this foam upgrade give you more of a Skidoo Rev style ridding position, more upright?

i have it on my 16 and for me it makes better angles for my hips and knees when riding seated. makes the transition from sitting to standing much better as well.

I put a WRP seat on my 2006 Attak and it was the best upgrade hands down. Its not quite the same as a Doo Rev but its 100x better then stock. And like @maim said, it feels much better on the hips and knees when riding sitting.

I will most likely order one up this year. Sounds like it would be a good investment
