well, let me start off by saying this thing is amazing. fuel miledge is awesome, im getting about 195 -205 kms on a tank of fuel..torque is just nuts, acceleration is great. top speed is leaving a little to be desired.there is about 650 miles on the odo of my xtx. my friend has a rx1 with some studs and a exhaust. i ran through the 1/4 mile with him a few times and the overall resule was the same i get off to a good jump and finish the 1/4 mile about 3 lenghts ahead of him.i hit my top speed of 156 kmh at 8650 rpm before i finish the 1/4 mile. another friend i have races his nytro suggested i use a green/white/green spring in my primary to get my rpm up and a bit better acceleration. i changed the spring and my top speed is the same at 156kmh and my rpm is at 8950rpm. i raced my friends rx1 again and now im beating him by 4-5 lenghts on the 1/4 mile and still getting a top speed of 156 kmh. i read somwhere that the mid windshield will help top speed. i had one given to me. i tried it,i still got the same top speed...i am thinking of tinkiring a little with the wieghts in the primary clutch , does anyone else with any experience with the xtx and top speeds.

1.75 back country is a killer for top speed. If you can make that sled break 100 mph with that track you should be a physics major.

i gotta keep the 1.75 backcountry. the xtx is a deep snow monster, i would still give it a 9 out of 10 for overall with all things considered. if i could get 100 - 105 mph i would be satisfied. i was thinking of putting a full excell exhaust on it and opening up my airbox a little. maybe that would help and putting in a lighter weight at the tip

156 Is it for me too, although I don't think the speedo is out as bad as the ones with the crapsaw. I think it gets to top speed faster.

Hey marty, I was talking to you at riverside on Saturday. I tried my XTX on the farmers field in Hughe's brook on my way to meet my buddy and I hit 173 kmh across the field, it had more in it but I was running out of room. Like the rest of the guys are saying your track is holding you back, but how often do you actually hit 100 mph anyway. That 1.75 gotta be fun!

wow. small world. i guess i have to be happy with the 156 kph. i like the deep snow so i guess the low top speed is a minor sacrafice. maybe your mbrp exhaust is giving you some horses. thats a amazing yop speed for your xtx. how was your trip in to north arm hills?

Actually we didn't go into the hills. We made the loop out around the communities and headed into the warm up shack before heading home. 245 km day, gotta love it!
Where did you guys finally go?

It's gonna be a totally different animal ! All you need is neck deep powder to test it out

I have a backcountry on mine with 20 tooth gearing. Pulls like a freight train but top end is 95-96 mph at 9100 rpm. Best I have seen any way. 92 mph at 9100 rpm is also common. Depends on snow.
I now get beet pretty bad on lake races but in the end it is so much more functional for what we actually ride. Acceleration is pretty tough to beat though. Wheelies for ever. The old ripsaw would just spin.

Would you say the sled is faster through the deep snow? I do alot of open lake running and I would gladly give up some hard pack top speed to gain some speed in the powder. I have installed a backcountry and am just wondering if i should install the 20 tooth gear i have.

I just posted in your thread. It does pull harder with the 20 tooth for sure. Revs out much higher too at 9100 rpm. If you are looking for more punch in the soft stuff the 20 tooth is the way to go. If you want top end on the trail then keep your 21 tooth in.
