I cannot believe it only 9200 miles and my lousy belt decided to fall apart do ya think Yamaha will cover it
. This was the original belt from 02 when I got the sled new, the outer layer was starting to spit chunks. Lucky for me one ended up on the running boards and I spotted it when we stopped for a break. Put the five year old new spare on and we were on our way. I got lucky these belts last a long time but if you don't change them regular and have 7500 miles on it you may want to inspect it occasionally I hear it's not a pretty sight when one lets loose at high speed.

blew one last year at about 80 mph, thought i had blown the engine,my belt had alot of miles on it too,it just shredded into small pcs and dented my belt guard bad, straightened it but feels like the guard isnt sturdy anymore, inspect them regularly, its worth it
Mitsuboshi DCVS Belts... best in world. Even Polaris uses them on the race sleds... and they were supplying them to Fusion owners in an attempt to keep belts in those machines.

I've heard of lot worse scenarios you were darn lucky you must have backed off almost instantly when it went I ve heard of belt pieces and clutch parts ripping right through the hood ouch! Whats the manual say for belt life? anyone know without me looking it up : )

My bud Terry on his 1000 T-Cat blew his when we were racing on the lake. At 100mph they will pull the rivets out of the belt guard and send it threw the hood. Made a nice hole.
I blew a belt on my 800 tripple Pantera at about 110 on the dream meter it bent the guard but went out the bottom through a hole the size of my fist. Dealer replaced the side panel under warrentee
I replace mine now long before 7500 miles because of the memories.

I blew my 2nd belt of the season thursday a week ago. The belt had 400 miles on it. we were on the grade above the Firesteel Bridges by Twin Lakes at over 105 when the 1st pc tickled my foot. I opened the hood and all that was left was the strings over the clutches and fluffy fir balls like I drove through a cotton field. We found no rubber inside the clutch compartment.
Thank God it didn't over rev. the new motor.

Even though it didn't break until 9200 miles the belt width had to be narrower than spec, wasn't it?
9200 miles, what a shame. At least now you know how to change one in the next 10,000 miles or so.
wow, 9200 miles
. hell i'm luck to get 1000 out of my belts (yamaha or dayco). I don't think they like the nos or the heel clickers.

I blew one with less then 3000 miles and it was not pretty, when I pulled my engine this summer I was still finding cotton looking balls in knooks and crannies impossible to reach with the sled assembled. I do a new one every two years now.
