Yamahnator
TY 4 Stroke Guru
I've had several Yamahas now and they've all been bulletproof. But I'll share a different side of the coin, and actually answer one of your questions. My wife's had a gear go in the gear reduction box. Now it was a fluke thing since the box has been used on most of their 4 strokes (as I've been told by more than a few dealers). I've never seen any report of this happening so perhaps a friday afternoon, too much saki type of thing
Understandably I was mad, as anyone who has a problem is. Yamaha more than made good with me, and cut me such a sweet deal because of the time it was down that I have a hard time even complaining. My friends who own other makes have just shaken their heads and couldn't believe it. They took care of me. Now they didn't just waltz in with a silver platter, I had to use the squeeky wheel, but the point was that they didn't ignore me, and they did everything they could to make me satisfied. That is what makes a great company and even those of my friends who have other makes readily agreed that they wouldn't have gotten the same deal/treatment.
So yes, very reliable, a casual perusal of forums will tell you that, and they stand by their product. A polaris buddy of mine was checking out my new Nytro's (pics soon) and commented on the fit and finish. They really have a great package.
