I am looking for a windshield that shoots the air completly over your head and completely around the handlebars. Will the Yamaha Extra Tall windshield do this for me? So far I have had the the Yamaha medium windshield which protects the hands, but blows air right into your neck and face. I also had the cobra tall, which blows air the ends of your handlebars making my hands much colder, also the cobra tall blows the air right into my shield. Will I be happy with the Extra Tall? Feedback is very much appreciated.

I have the tall, with support brackets. It does a very good job, but isn't quite as warm as my wife's stock 1998 Venture Touring 700's windshield.

With mine the wind hits the very top of my helmet and sort-of ruffles the edges of my shoulders and arms. It is perfect for me and at high speeds it provides a neutral balance (very easy to hang on).

With my wife's Venture the wind clears my body completely, but at high speeds (90+ mph) I get pressure pushing against my back if I'm alone on the sled. I don't like the sensation of being pushed towards the handlebars and with my Apex with the tall I don't get this. On the other hand, on extremely cold days her sled is definitely a little warmer.

If you're looking for maximum wind protection, the extra-tall is likely the way to go.

If you're really looking for the absolute ultimate in wind protection you should install the windshield for the 2009 Venture Touring GT. It is absolutely enormous and should install (with the right bits and pieces from the Venture) on the Apex (the 2009 Venture GT uses the Apex chassis).

I have the Yamaha extra tall windshield on my Attak GT and it does the job.
I would not be without one when riding the lakes in Canada in sub zero weather.

tall shield

Have the extra tall shield on my apex with the braces. Tried to run the shield without the braces but the shield would bend from wind pressure. Really am happy with the wind protection that it provides. Also made a slight modification to the braces, as I cut-off the screw heads on the wind shield so only a small portion of the screw shaft projects from the brace so that I can easily remove the brace from the shield when I need to access the power plug and key plug. The braces still do there work and give easy access.
