YAMAHA/FOX FLOATS 06'-07' Valving?

Does anyone know if the specs have been changed from the 06's to the 07's. I want to order a set for my 06' Attak, just wondering if there is a difference? Thanks in advance!
 
I don't think the valving is really changable. I think it's got to do more with the air pressure you run them at.

Wrong you can change the valving.
 
what would changing the valving due then. you have almost unlimited adjustability because of the air pressure. It's not like a standard shock were you are limited as to the preload or ride height settings. or is the valving just based off of rider weight? I'm starting to confuse myself now. Greaaat!

The valving is the same in the 2006 & 2007 model years.

Has anyone added clickers to their floats yet. Thinking about doing it when I have them rebuilt. Don't know if it's possible but an add adjustment sounds good to me. I know Fox makes a float that comes with a clicker canister so I would imagine it can be done. I think their called Float X.

My understanding is the air pressure correlates to spring tension( ride height), and valving will still control the rate of 'change', ie shortening = compression and lengthening = rebound.

Is that right guys

I have a set of Float X's...I will be moutning them to my apex this week.

The Float X sounds like the ticket! I had a set of Floats on my Mach Z and did not like their performance through the stutter bumps. Even after revalving they were too stiff in the small bumps and too slow to rebound through the larger bumps. External adjustments would have changed the older set I had and I most likely would not have chosen to go to Ohlins on that sled.

I went on to Fox's web site and clicked on to their application guide for the Float X and it said to call for assistance... I chose not to call. What do they cost??
 
I'm not even sure if they are available to the general public or not. In the past they have been issued to arctic cat race teams and other such organizations. I managed to get a set through some connections but you can find them every now and again on some of the message forums..racer guys selling them off.

The c to c of them is 18.5 (firecat) so I have to get them rebuilt to fit the apex.
 
Isn't the Float X just a standard Float with an external resivour. I remember seeing a nylon button on the bottom of my Floats and think that this may possibly be the location were the hose would be attached. Any shock experts out there? I think I may call my shock guy this week and find out. If a clicker can be added consider it done.
 
the Float Xs got mounted up on friday...this is just a temporary install, resevoirs will not be zip tied obviously

There is not much room on the apex to mount external resvoirs. They could be routed into the engine compartment as an alternative. There is 110psi in the shocks in that photo thus the reason for the major ride height.
