Some great news just released by Amsnow:

"We’ve all been asking for it and now Yamaha delivers with a supercharger for its trail Nytros.

After making available Yamaha-approved turbocharger and superchargers for its mountain Nytro the last couple years, Yamaha moves into the supercharged trail market with Trail Boost, a 5 PSI supercharger that will power the Nytro up to 181 horses. It comes with all the requisite parts, a cooler, new exhaust, clutch weights, heat exchanger, 15 roller and new top gear and chain, plus ice scratchers. The system is made by Mountain Performance Inc. (MPI), which has made the Nytro MTX kits last year.

The dealer-installed kit (Part No. SMA-Super-20-00) retails for $4,399.95 and will begin arriving at U.S. dealerships in October. The system will go on sale and be available in Canada at a later date, but that date has not yet been determined.

Yamaha says this is at least a 45 horsepower gain over stock for its stock FX Nytro’s 1049cc fuel-injected 3-cylinder 4-stroke powerplant and will run on premium octane pump gas.

Rob Powers, Yamaha’s snowmobile marketing manager, said the new trail supercharger works best at altitudes up to 6,000 feet, whereas the MPI supercharger for Yamaha’s mountain Nytro MTX performs best at altitudes above 6,000 feet.

Gearing for the system will include a 22-tooth unit for sleds with a 1.25-inch lugged track and a 21-tooth gear for sleds with a 1.75-inch lugged track. That’s one tooth more for each gear vs. the standard gearing.

Folks wanting to get a look at the new MPI unit can see it at Yamaha’s booth at Hay Days this weekend in North Branch, Minn.

In addition Yamaha tells us it will begin offering special sled wraps as part of a sales program for new sleds this fall. The wraps for the Apex, Vector and Phazer come in blue, red, black & white and yellow for most of those models. An orange wrap also is available for Nytro, as is one called Tattoo, a wilder mix of colors. The more wild Tattoo wrap also is available for the Phazer. There’s an important caveat here though, you must buy a new sled to be able to order the special wraps.

Yamaha’s Trade My Sled program also continues this fall, where buyers can get customer cash or special financing on a new sled when they trade in any model, and any brand, of used sled. More details on all Yamaha’s new programs can be found at www.yamaha-motor.com

Sounds like a nice price point as other superchargers are $5,900 + dollars .

I wonder if they will be able to keep them on the shelves like the ski's and hyfax last year .

MPI mentioned they were working on it a couple weeks ago when i talked to them. Looks like its here.

I went with a Ulmer Turbo instead however.

They should offer that as a full production sled for around $12,500.00. They would not be able to build enough of them.

Curious about what difference there is from the Mountain kit? I heard the trail kit has an extra tunnel cooler and I fuel mapping is probably different as well.

12,500 would be sweet but highly doubtful. Look at the Cat turbo sled. I think its around 14k +. I would bet thats where a turbo/supercharged nytro would be. Just my 2 cents. Either way I would convince myself to buy one

Kinda late though on a very old model IMHO.My xtx is going into its 4th year!

So is mine, but wouldn't that be a kick in the #*$&@!

 mines an 09 also, but ready to buy new very soon. XTX was nice and reliable but not a driver friendly sled. Compared to other I have driven. I will not go into details unless asked.
But the funny thing is the best part of this sled is the engine....would be crazy to handle on trail with a charger.

But nice option to have.........finially. Would of bought it 4 years ago without thinking about it.

CRAZY FUN! Just think of the corner to corner acceleration.

I'd be grinning like a twp peckered billy goat in a flock of sheep! :letsnow:
