this is a question for those of you that currently have an apex gt with the gytr front shocks. How do you like these shocks? How do they compare to the ohlins for ride quality and adjustability? Any input would be appreciated.

GYT vs Ohlins

I do not have the experience with the Ohlins to comment, but the GYT's seems to do a great job for the price. That's why Yamaha uses them, although they sell the Ohlins in the catalogue.

I doubt Ohlins makes GYT. In sweden the -06 Nytro has Ohlins because Öhlins is swedish and they didn´t have the service built up for the FOX float. They did not go with the GYT allthough they are cheaper and why put a less nown name on a shock and sell it cheaper? Isnt it Kayaba that makes them? Kayaba makes Doos HPG anyway.

I heard that Yamaha bought Soqui the shock company that made the GYTR bodies. Yamaha also owns a very large part of Ohlins. Yamaha, as I understand it had Ohlin design the guts of these shocks. I can say these front shocks are awesome. Doug

I love my GT shocks... THEY are by far the best shocks ive ever had on a YAMAHA sled.. 1701 miles and still eaten the bumps like a snopro

based on what I have read so far it sounds like the two shocks are comparable in performance. The ohlins do look better, but is it worth $200 more per pair? Since the gytr's are new it will be difficult to predict if they will last as long as a set of ohlins.
