I bought my 07 new in April. Its the regular Phazer, but the dealer had already installed the fan and the tunnel enclosures.

The Yamaha tunnel enclosures do not work. You must rivet a piece of aluminium and close the tunnel completely. Trust me on this - I first installed the Yamaha tunnel enclosures, only to still have major ice problems. Go to Excel Powersports and check out their product - you won't be disappointed!

ultimatewarrior...Are you saying to cover the "whole hole" in the tunnel? I havn't really rode mine yet (late season purchase), so any help is great.

Yes. Close the entire rear hole. It is the ONLY WAY to stop 40 pounds of ice from building up in the tunnel and to keep the running boards free from ice. Search for Excel Motorsports web page and check out their product.

I tried googling Excel Motorsports and came up with not a lot. Is it in Colorado? Is it called OTD Motorsports? Thanks

I took mine(07 mountain lite) in for a beginning of season service last September07 and they did some recall work and one of the jobs was the rear covers, they were free of charge as well as the new front end parts(bolts etc.) iwas going to anyway so free was even better

Thats funny I called my dealer today and inquired about the tunnel closure and they said there is bulletin on it or even a recall for the tunnel closure. What am I doing wrong to be told that when you are having it done as a recall.....

Not sure what you are referring to with regards to the VL? The VL does not have any holes in the tunnel, however, the muffler is in the tunnel. Did you see someone with the the VL modified to address the icing issue? Please clarify or am I missing something in your post.
Would love to see a fix for the tunnel icing on the VL - Yamaha has not done a thing to fix the issue on the VL.
Thanks,
