Has anyone put wider ski's on their ventures? My dealer is unable to tell me if the Yamaha mountain ski's will be an easy fit. I'm looking to minimize extra hardware and also not change the front ride height.
Please provide details on the parts you needed and your impressions.
Thanks,

The RS Venture TF here in Canada has a 7 inch wide ski that will fit. Not sure of the part number.

BA,
I put the 05 Yamaha MT ski on my 05 RS/Venture about 3500 miles ago and they make a big difference in the powder.
The swap of skis took only about 15 minutes, not a big deal to change over. I was happy with the switch.

I put the 05 mountain skis on my rx-1 have not had the chance to try them yet but switching over was easy. It took 6 weeks for all the parts to come in though.
I put the 05 mountain skis on my RS Venture. They are a superior ski on and off the trail to the stock ski. Off trail there is no more front end dive/roll to the outside ski. They stay on top really well. On trail I found them to corner like a slot car with a single 6 inch carbide. They do dart alittle bit but not as bad as stock with single carbide. I tried a set of dual carbides, the darting disappeared but the sled then started to push more. Again still not as bad as the stock ski.
You will need 1 bushing, 1 bolt and 2 collars per ski. The bushing goes through the ski post and is longer to accomodate the wider ski. The 2 collars goes over the bushing, (1 on each side) and then the longer bolt. All other parts you can use off the old skis. I don't have the exact parts numbers with me now but if you go the the mountain pages (RS/RX) on the Yamaha site you should find the part numbers.
One thing to note is that the overall width is now 2+ inches wider and unfortunately the sled will not fit into the back of a pick-up or on a single place trailer. I keep my old skis for this. The swaping takes about 15 minutes.

Will the wider skiis fit the 05 Rage?If so where and what kind to get?

Nope, they are NOT the same!!! The TF-ski's are longer and have little or no curve (from the side). They (TF) don't have a "step" in the bottom, they are straight from the keel and out, thereby not so aggressive as the Mountain-ski, but floats a little "higher" in the snow. It all depends on what you're after; flotation (TF), or an aggressive ski (Mountain). The TF-ski's does also have a little lip in the back for easyer reversing... Works great. It's the same ski as the Viking III uses this year (atleast here in scandinavia).

I'm not asking if there the same as far as handling,I'm saying what ones if any will fit on the 05 rage?I know that there's better flotation,my husbands old 97 XTC has cat mt. skiis on it and he wants to get them for his rage.

Does anyone know the difference between these two skis listed for the 05 RS vector mtn.
Alternate ski PN: 8FE-F3711-00-00 SKI 1
SKi PN: 8FK-F3711-00-00 SKI 1
I want to order mtn ski for my venture - any info is appreciated.
It seems that the alternate number disappears in 06 sleds, maybe a interim ski PN or something...

BA, Here is a link http://www.portyamaha.com/eshopprod_cat ... Bottom.htm. It looks like I missed the bushings but I'm sure if you talked with Kevin at Port he'd be able to explain better.
