I need new Arm bushings. Got 8k plus on the originals. My Yami parts guy said they have a kit and that the bushings fit right in with no problems.
Thoughts on whether to get Yami's or were else can I get a good kit with instructions?

Oilite are the replacement choice generally. 8000 miles out of the OEM plastic is unheard of so maybe try your luck and save some money on OEM's.

I probably needed them long ago. I never notice any play or noise but when I checked them up in the air after reading a post about them they had play in them. I don't ride fast or hard. Can't anymore.

Oilite's, whether there OEM or Aftermarket are the same thing.
Personally I'd go with Ulmer's, he has been around for a while so he knows his stuff and I imagine they are cheaper too?

MPI makes the Yamaha Bushing kit
Whether you buy from Ulmer or you get the MPI/Yamaha ones from your dealer, they are the same price.

That's what I did last year during the build of my Attak. Great customer service from Allen. Heck, I purchased most all of my parts from him!

Original Bushings on the machine right up to 8000 miles as well then switch them to olites. Very suprised that the originals had very little wear. I did Wash down the sled after every weekend and sprayed fogging oil on all front end components i think this helped alot.

Be sure to chaeck the interference on your bushings
I ordered and installed oilites last year and I dismantled the spindles today to check them. The oilites I bought at the time did not go in as tight as the old plastic ones I had removed, so I bought a 1-2" micrometer and measured the OD on the old and the new. The new oilites were smaller so I sent them back only to have them returned with a "they were within spec".
I went ahead and fitted them against my better judgement and marked the spindle as well as the bush with a center punch to see if they would turn in the spindle. Today when I pulled the right hand spindle the lower oilite bush in the spindle housing came out with the shaft as seen in the photo. The top oilite bushing had turned almost 180 degrees and had no real interference in its bore to speak of.
The bulkhead bushes I fitted felt fine when I was installing them.
So Ill be ordering another set from a differnet vendor today and hope their spindle bushes are sized better thena these were. I will let everyone know how the new ones measure up.

New Yamaha bushes
My Yamaha oilite bushes arrived today.
The new Yamaha oilite bushes measured the same as the new plastic bushes I had from a spindle I bought last year. The surprise was the the Yamaha bushes were .003" bigger than the aftermarket bushes I had purchased.
My concern when I saw this was that the extra interference might make the ID of the bush tight on the spindle shaft. This was also a concern - reason from the previous vendor for why their oilites didnt have as much interference. So I knocked them in. They were firm going in, and the spindle went in fine.
I have attached the pics with the measurements so others can check theirs if need be.
