Hello Guys,
Had a few idler wheels that were noisy. Got bearings to replace, but when i take off the idler wheel, the fitting / bearing are staying together. There is no retaining clip to take off, so not sure how to separate the bearing. I have tried to drive the bearing thru with a hammer and a socket around the right size... See pics, any ideas, let me know, thanks!

those are the stock wheels with the non replacaeable bearings. you can rinse those bearings out with brake clean and see if they turn smooth. if they do, repack with grease, re install seals and reinstall. if they do not turn smooth when clean, just buy an aftermarket wheel with bearing and snap ring to install. part of why i keep spares at home and in the trailer for my sleds.

Makes sense - will try the brake clean for this weekends ride. That said, how would i detach the factory wheel from the support? I already replaced one with a wheel, and it came right off, this one is different for some reason...

it is just corrosion holding it onto the mount. happens to mine as well when i have not had them off on a few years.

1” hardwood dowel place wheel over a vice and smack the down good. Small sledge or 24oz or higher hammer couple shots.

If that's the only one that's bad, you can get a later year (i.e. 2012) stock wheel that does have replaceable bearings. If you have more than one or two, I'd replace them all with oversized 135mm wheels to help sliders last much longer. There are the Excell wheels https://www.excellmotorsports.com/X-Wheels--wheels
or there is another that looks like the stock Yamaha wheels made by Kimpex (04-4135-20). All have replaceable bearings and either cost the same or less than Yamaha's.

I would not use brake cleaner as it will wear out the seals. Use WD40 as your cleaner of choice. Then repack the wheel with Grease.

i always lube the seal lips with grease when i pack them.

I have used brake clean and WD40. No matter what you use the seals always out last the bearing.
