i picked up this issue of 'dirt rider' and found this review on the new YZ450F. i thought it was remarkable the similarities, parellels, (from the review) to to sled division. "the bike is heavier this year, but 'feels' lighter", "the yamaha bikes never 'cornered well", things like that. i'm not saying this is a good thing or bad thing, not ripping on yamaha, i think overall they love this bike. i just found it interesting. two totally different 'rides' with similar 'issues??? if thats the right word. yet with some fixes! whatever the case, they are certainly inovating in the MX side of things! hopefully you can read the text from the scanned magazine.

Yes that is pretty uncanny.

But I gotta say, Im a tried and true Yamaha dirt bike rider...have been for life.

I used to race TT500 big bore four strokes, worked for a Yamaha shop where I got to test ride all the new cutting edge stuff right outta the crate.

I remember being at Washougal race track when Doug Henry won the outdoor nationals championship title on a Yamaha four stroke...unheard of, cutting edge stuff!!

Yamaha has always been ahead of the pack when it has come to sticking it out there...taking risks (Mono-shock suspension, water cooled two strokes, main stream 4 stroke motocrossers).

They have definitely established a lot of new products, setting new Paradigms throughout the industry.

Nothing ventured, nothing gained!! :yam: :4STroke:
 
oh yeah.... i love their dirt bikes too! i watched doug henry closely when he first jumped on that 4 stroke. and when he won it all..... i was really happy to see that!

Can you say Devil in a Blue Dress. 2010 YZ450F is out of the park. Yes MX technology is shared to sleds.
Very plain in suspensions, ergonomics.

The number of world and national MX titles over the years proof of the
resolve to win. Rockin..... :yam:

No,I am being genuine. I have never road a bike before,So sorry for the newbie question.

You've really never been on a bike before? How about a bicycle? Basically the same concept. Just gotta lean into the corner... the faster you are moving the less you will turn the bars and the more you will lean. At High speeds you will not turn the bars much at all. While going slower you'll turn the bars more.

Thats ^ more for road bikes, dirt bikes are a slightly different story...sort of
 
You have no clue on how the gyroscopic affect work's on a two wheeled vehicle,so I suggest you not give any tips before you kill someone.

After 40 mph the steering of a two wheeled vehicle completely changes it's called "gyroscopic effect" meaning after a certain speed you need to "countersteer" or apply opposite lock or input into the handle bars not just lean off,meaning if you want to go left you steer right and vise versa.Just like powder riding.If you were to turn into a left or right turn at speed like you would in a car you would either be face first into the ground or into the outside guardrail.Countersteeering is the main component to lean the bike in and out of a turn as well as input on the foot pegs and leaning off.A few example's of "countersteering"
