Yamaha snocross team

They are not 50lbs heavier.... If you believe that, then you need to take your beer goggles off.

Not looking to argue, but it's a fact the Nytro is at least 50lbs heavier than anything else on the track...

Dont think for a minute that if Yamaha wanted to be winning Snow-X events that they couldnt. They are a very conservative company who will only release products to the consumer that is very very well thought out, and will meet customer demands

I must say I disagree, they are out there to win and if they could be winning, they would. Yamaha as a company does not like to except defeat.
Where Yamaha's sleds are today have nothing to do with snocross, and look how good they are!
I just think they make themselves look worse by racing and can (and do) make great sleds without snocross.

My opinion is as people who ride Yamaha's we only want them to win so we can have our egos stroked as we pull up to the beer and gas fill. Its never fun if someone brings up the "did you see the snowcross race, your nitro sucks!" comments! But, really who cares, enjoy what you ride and if you are that concerned go race yourself and carry the white and blue with pride?

Oh yeah, or you could go buy the race replica Poo! Enjoy the smoke and cleaning carbs! Come on people the Poo dealers around here and from what I have heard they all have plenty of left over sleds so snocross results dont have that much of and impact!

Snocross is not why I ride a Yamaha. But, I guess thats cause im not a snocross racer!

To everyone....remember how much excitement snocross brings to the market of snowmobiles though. By being involved with snocross and having the name back in the game, Yamaha has come close to the reinvention of itself. Step one: change the lineup to all 4-stroke, step two: get back into racing, Step three: dominate every aspect of the snowmobile world.

Just like eveything in this world things take time. Even though some of the laid-out plan hasn't worked completely, Yamaha definitely has the most exciting snowmobile line up out there.

I agree with most of the comments, I just wish they would spread their money out to alot more racers. It has got to be the same people running this program as was back in the early 2000's!! :o| Can't they move those guys to the golf cart division?! :moon:

I don't think they can. If they could they would. I don't believe they are spending that kinda cash just for R&D :flag:

Your kidding right?

Funny how theres no 2 strokes left in Supercross. Wonder how that happened?
No, I'm not kidding. Did Toyota get into NASCAR for better R&D.........

I have a bud ,who rides scooby-doo,and all he does is bitch about pol. and cat racing WORKS sleds, that aren't availlible to the public. Ski-doo and Yamaha are out there on basically trail sled design that are availible to the public. I think Yamaha wants to better thier product and get some exposer. If racing was their only concern, being the sleeping giant they are, they would come out and dominate the other factories.

As a matter of fact yes they did. And I have intimate knowledge of this. I have a very good high school friend that is the General Manager of the North Carolina based Toyota race engine building department. He says R&D for there consumer based cars and trucks is a huge reason they got into Nascar. Obvioulsy R&D isnt the sole reason as you already know. My buds name is Tim Ambrose, graduated from Sauk Prairie, WI HS in 1986 and is listed here. http://dana.mediaroom.com/index.php/press_releases/2061

Are you saying this is the first time you have ever heard of a company testing R&D by use of racing?

No, I'm simply saying that they aren't in it only for R&D.

You asked if I thought Toyota got into Nascar for better R&D and I responded yes and gave you proof of it. Are you implying that you also think that R&D is one of the reasons they got into it? If so, thats not what I take out of your original question "Do you think Toyota got into Nascar for better R&D". Especially considering you think my other posts are off base.

Sorry, maybe I misinterpreted your question.

Yamaha took over motorcross with 4stroke and will do it with snowmobiles as well. While the other manufacturers screw around with old technology Yamaha is so far ahead with the 4stroke and the others will be pulling up their socks to catch up.

Yamaha had a huge presence already in motorcross when the switch was made. Dont see the snocross going the same way? Wouldnt mind being wrong though!

You will see a completely different snow cross sled from all 4 manufacturers sooner than you think. 2010 EPA regs change everything for Cat, Doo and Poo.

Then you will most likely see the years worth of a head start that Yamaha has pay off.
