Yamaha snowmobile future engine

Interesting, but the m1 spins much higher than 15k. It spins like 16,500 or even a tad higher.

If Yamaha or anyone can figure a clutch out that that can handle that rpm, great.

The second pic of the bike doing the wheelie was an R6, not an m1.

And the cross plane crank isn't a big bag that the M1 runs. The m1 is 180 degrees opposite, so like the cross plane crank on steroids.

Also, the GP bikes currently need to be rebuilt after every race, due to the crazy rpms they run.

GP is an insane test bed for bike development. Also the way it looks, some of the craziness will disappear to shrink the budgets for 2009 GP race series. It appears that Kawasaki has pulled out due to the economy, despite a huge lawsuit looming from Dorna.

Someone has figured out a clutch to spin 15,000 rpm read this whole blog with pictures from Yamaha Canada and you will see and read for yourself.

The other man(Gilles) involved with the G Force projecthttp://www.soucy-group.com/index.asp

The clutch does exist and the motor has no reduction gear as well.Heres a web site to Gilles the (clutch) http://www.gagnelessard.com/he should be able to give you some clutching tips for your Yamaha. :jump:

I know the second picture is a R6 I was just expressing excitement. ;)!

The new 09 R1 and the M1 share the same crank tecnology :yam:

The '09 R1 departs from the norm for in-line 4 cylinder engines and the 180 degree alignment of the crank pins (where the connecting rods attach to the crankshaft), and locates the center two rods at a 90 degree plane from the outer cylinders. This means instead of the crank pins aligned on the same plane (a straight line drawn through the center of the crankshaft), they align on 2 planes in the form of a cross ... or "crossplane". Working in conjunction with the crossplane crank is an uneven firing order. A traditional in-line 4 cylinder's firing order is normally 1,2,4,3 with a 180 degree interval. This new R1 engine fires 1,3,2,4 cylinders and the firing intervals are uneven at 270 / 180/ 90 /180 degrees. What all this means to the rider is the most linear torque possible and amazing throttle control.

Detuning the 200+hp 800cc M1 engine to 180hp would help it's longevity which they have talked about as well. What do you think about the new 600cc class replaceing the 250's this year. :flag:

Kawasaki can't pull out they are bound to a 2 year contract with Dorna and can be sued by Dorna if they do,which Dorna says is a last resort move by them.I guess time will tell.

Rightarm, the M1's crankshaft is not a cross plane like the 09 r1. It is in different degrees out from the r1's new mill. The M1 is a true big bang, essentially operating as a pair of twin cylinders firing at the same time. The 09 r1, is a good balance between the 2 ideas.

Ever since the 04 R1, those have fit me like a glove. At 6'4" and 240lbs, these new smaller every year literbikes keep getting, well, too small for me. I ride a Suzuki TL1000s, and I like it a lot. I have been a die hard twin cylinder bike guy, but this new crass plane 09 r1 really has me intrigued, as it acts more like a twin in power delivery/ traction. I have yet to see if the new r1 still fits me. Ben spies is a bigger rider, and he seems to fit on the 09 r1 pretty well. Granted Spies is still about maybe 2/3 of a horkn, size wise;)

I saw the new clutch design, and that's great. That link for my yamaha's clutching did not pull up. My Venture works just fine stock. It goes 0-95 or so pretty darn well. It's more than adequate for a 2 up.

The 600's replacing the 250's in GP? I like the idea, but isn't that supposed to happen in 2010?, next year?

I know Kawi is bound to Dorna, but They have not been out yet. Melandri and Hopper are both expecting to sit out the year, or haopper may ride a satellite kawi. But I really doubt a factory kawi will be out in the GP field this year. I think Ben Spies really was on to the diminishing team sizes in GP for 09. I think it was a great idea for him to go to WSBK. Suzuki really messed up by taking crapirossi instead off spies for GP. Plus this way, we get to see Josh Hayes on an R1 stateside in AMA. I doubt that would have happened otherwise I did go to the WSBK AMA races at Utah this past summer. Unfortunately I don't think I will get out there this year, so I won't get to see Ben Spies race in person for the first time in years.

I have planned on hitting the GP at Laguna Seca, and hopefully Ben will be in GP by then.

True not the BB motor Rossi rides but as close as were gonna get, have you heard the new R1 sounds awesome!I had an 98 R1 the first year they came out it was a great bike. The TL always intrigued me and I had a couple of friends race them in the Canadian race series, although none of them were "horkn" size .Sorry about the bad link try this http://www.gagnelessard.com/fr/coordonnees/index.shtml that clutch is pretty funky.I wish the 600's were next but I think it's 2011. http://www.roadracingworld.com/news/art ... icle=35477

I hope Kawa changes there tune and go's Moto G.P racing,if you remember Kawa U.S said they weren't going to race because of rule changes and just recently Kawa U.S and Attack have formed there team and are out testing.I am happy to see Spies were he is for now Perhaps a one off ride at Laguna or Indy might be possible, other than that he's looked great in timed testing and I look forward to "ELBOZ" having a great year.I also look forward to seeing Hayes on the Liter bikes should add some excitement back to the series. ;)!

I have heard the new r1 on the computer for the debut, but I have not even seen one in person. I think I will have to head to Port Yamaha soon to see and hopefully hear one soon. I imagine with a set of Akrapovic's it will sound badass.

Attack's former racer steve Rapp will be on an aprilia, as well as Chaz Davies on a KWS aprilia.
It will be nice to hear all the twins in AMA Superbike again. I am a bit torn about the new DMG rule changes. I especially hate the nascrap rule of teams owning the racers numbers and not the rider, regardless of the team they are on. That is retarded.

Hey, do you plan on hitting an AMA stateside race?

I am about 40 minutes from Road America for the early June AMA races. If you are thinking about it, let me know...

Lol, the 800cc in the M1 is full of so many unobtainium parts and electronics that will never make it to production, much less in a sled. Keep dreaming.

Yes it will be nice to hear the Twins in Superbike again, I remember racing back in the 90's in the AMA when the "Fast by Ferracci"ducati team and Vance & Hines ducati's ran the circuit. Would you happen to remember "Jimmy Adamo"? well know Duc twin rider in the U.S. unfourtunatly died at Daytona .R.I.P.The DMG rules don't bother me too much up here in Canada we have adopted those rules for a while now.The number thing is messed up.The last couple of years I have gone to the Alabama round and Jennings Fl. to get some early season testing with the race team and riders. Can't say that I have been to Elkhart Lake WI in awhile prehaps in 92.I also like to go to Mid Ohio in I believe it's close to Lexington. If I can find some off time and it corresponds wth a race at Road America I will definately consider it,as you know it's a wonderful facility. And will love to enjoy the races with a new found race fan.

Although the M1 engine is an obtainable piece, the concept is not.The concept can and will go into producion in the "Future".The New R1 is close to a complete Moto GP concept and in the future the R1 will be called the M1 and it will be 800cc.

I know whats it's like to have a unobtainable piece, I was lucky enough to be to be a mechanic for my friends race effort, we raced these $70,000 250cc moto gp bikes, as well as importing them into Canada and the U.S. And these bikes were filled with exotic materials, all body work including gas tank and the whole rear section that holds the rider and seat "Carbon Fiber" the frame "Aluminum" triple clamps, wheels, engine cases,"Magnesium" all bolts and brackets "Titanium" .14,000 rpm+ 86bhp

So as far as dreaming looks like it's paid off :jump: ;):D ;)!

Yeah, we have lost a few talented racers over the years. Adamo was one of them.

If you end up even thinking about hitting Road America , give me a PM.

While you are at it, bring one of those unobtanium 250 gp bikes with you. I need a track whore.:)

I will give you a heads up if there are any plans to come down, although bringing the bike down for a track day would be the cats @$$ EH!Do the people at Road America have many track days that you know of.

Umm yeah. There are quite a few track days held there every year. It is my favorite track of the 3 I have been to for track days. I am going back again this summer for sure.

There are 3 places you can get over 170 on my TL. It is so scary it is fun.

I almost lost it once coming out of the kink (turn 4?). My TL started the old famous TLS headshake and tried to spit me off. I just had to reign her in again. Even the control riders were impressed I stayed on as a novice track rider.
