Anyone else get a survey from Yamaha fishing for interest in a $13 a quart premium 4 stroke motor oil?

Sounds pretty steep to me. Think I'd stick with Mobil 1 unless they guarantee 20% more horsepower.

I took the survey yesterday....

$16.00 a quart for "Super Oil, I have some "Snake Oil", only $8.00 a quart. :-o

What could they possibly put in this oil to make it cost that much? :drink:

Maybe if this oil lasts the life of the sled, (or 5 year change intervalls) they will sell some. LaLaLa

:yam: :4STroke: :rocks:

Yea i took it last night. They asked me if I'd buy their new oil for $12/Quart. I said not likely. If its a magic oil like Snowarrior said that lasts the life of the sled maybe. The oil they sell now (Semi-Synthetic) works just fine in my sled. WHY WOULD ANYONE BUY A HIGHER PRICED OIL WHEN THE OIL THAT THEY'VE SOLD FOR YEARS HAS WORKED JUST FINE???? Its just another way to make more money off of their customers.

My 2 cents

Didn't see or take the survey but it sounds to me like a ralation to the two stroke premium oil required buy they competition. Maybe their asking the question in a matter that would not sway you from thinking "oh it's for a two smoke forget it no way would I pay that. Or it's real and it's some special ol required for turbo or supercharge applications. But there are plenty of those already out there running common oil. MMMM

I too received the survey at $16 a quart. The only thought I had is that Yammi might be coming out with a line of engines that may be more demanding of an engine oil than what their current semi-synthetic blend can deliver. Turbo Apex anyone?

Interesting, the survey must adjust the price depending on your previous answers.
They made a big deal about more fuel mileage and higher performance.
I can't see the oil making that much difference to what I am already running.
Maybe if I was running 90 weight road tar in the crankcase now. :o| :o| :o|

If it has more power, then who cares. Realistically probbaly half the people could just leave the sled with the same oil for two seasons because of the such low miles on it especially if the sled has been properly stored and not started a zillion times in the summer months.

They need these numbers in order to set a price. They have an oil that they WILL be selling, and they're trying to figure out the distribution of what people are willing to spend.

The best answer you can always give is "NO, I'm not willing to buy it at that price". Do that and it'll lower the price that they finally end up selling it at.

Do people miss the days of ultra-expensive 2 stroke injector oil or something?

Even $8 for the normal Yamalube 4 stroke oil is way too much, I think.

Just about all of them recommended for sleds with power(exhaust) valves are expensive now. Sure they are synthetic, but Polaris Gold oil sells for $36 to $41 a gallon here. My step son pays $34 a gallon for the Arctic oil for his Sabrecat.

Exactly!
