What's with yamaha's suspensions anyways. My 2005 vectors at the shop waiting for it's 3rd set of rails and assorted other parts. I realize I put a lot of miles on, 11,000 as to date, but I've had Polaris and SkiDoo suspensions hold up to more. I love the motor in the Vector, but suspension problems are killing this for me. Thank god I bought an extended warranty as the rear suspension rebuilds are nor over the $3000 mark. Add the $1600 for the front bulkheads that broke from a minor impact with the sway bar links, never knew I hit anything, and we're getting to the price of a new sled. The bushings for the front A frames were pretty well shot anyways and I'm told they aren't replaceable. Don't get me wrong, I do love the motor, fit and trim are excellent, but I'm tired of losing sled time while the rear suspension gets rebuilt. It appears that the monoshock suspensions aren't holding up to the high miles either. Makes me tempted to go back to SkiDoo and rebuilding motors.

what he ^^^^ said

As a former Polaris owner (15 to be xact) I have/had the same impressions as you.

buy an M10 or Xpert X and no worries 'mon! seems to be a fairly common direstion people take with Yamaha.

Just don't feel I should have to put out the extra dollars after buying the sled. Usually only keep them 2 or 3 years and trade them off. Anyone put the miles on the Xpert X and have it hold together? I can deal with the ride on this suspension, although it has some room for improvement compared to the other brands, but the durabbility just seems unacceptable. Thinking of keeping this sled for five years just to make a point with Yamaha that they need to increase their strength in these suspensions. I figure at this rate Yamaha will be out at least $10,000 for suspension rebuilds.

I see FAST offers an M-12 now too. I like the idea of the more travel but it seems like you'll sacrifice handling getting the center of gravity higher in the air.

FAST says that the M12 is more of a ditchbanger skid. If I were to buy a NEW skid, I'd call FAST and talk to the about how I ride and would the M10 or M12 be better.

Suspension

I know this is not a vector but if you compare the diference between the 2007 RS venture and RS Venture GT; the only main diference is better suspension and it comes only in black for an additional $300.

suspension

Guess I wish I had enough money to spend for an M-10 etc, but I also have boats, a custom car and other toys (plus a family) I have to spend money on so crazy add ons are not an option. Plus my 86 phazer had 13,000 miles on it before I ever rebuilt the suspension.

Had a REV and yes the rings got bad, then my buddy wrecked it and with the insurance, I got the RAGE. Love the engine and gas milage but my 97 VMAX has better suspension. Plus I get this chunk-a chunk sound when going over large whoops that my friends Vector and another's Nitro do not on the same exact bumps. I understand I have a little more track and have ridden mountain sleds and long tracks before and never has there seemed to be such a huge difference.

What can I do to get a softer ride that is not so teater totter feeling that will cure the chunking sound with what is there?
