Vector was basically an rx1 chassis but wasnt the engine completely new? Id say for brand new engine it would count as a new model but they Warrior and RS nytro definitely werent new models.
Good list but Id add the 07 phazer as a new model also.

Yamaha has always flown under the radar. They never seem to try to impress anybody. Whether thats a good thing or a bad thing idk, but it seems to me that they have been changing the sport of snowmobiling for years. Im mean in 77 first oil injected sled, did everyone forget the pogo stick front suspension?, 96 first trailing arm sled, 97 with the light weight twins n triples, 2000 with the 144s, 02 the sxviper gave yamaha something decent to race, 03 with basically the first notably 4-stroke, 08 the nytro made other snowmobile companies work like hell to match it. If that isnt enough inovation for people they better find a different brand. And good luck finding a better 1!

first trailing arm sled was in 97 not 96. 97 was a huge year for yamaha. their entire lineup was dropped and replaced with proaction trailing arm chassis sleds except the vmax4. vmax sx, xt xtc, mountain max, ventures, xtc deluxe

I think you have to consider the Apex from RX-1 a new model. I realize that the Mono came out in 05' but you had a completely different ergo setup and "better" Mono than before, plus the addition of EFI. When I made the desicion to go to the Apex in 06' I don't know that I would have done that, (probably would have went donk if they hadn't gone EFI and forward ergos. The RX-1 to me just seems way more dated then the Apex.

Glad to see AKrider add the 93 Exciter II SX, another one year only sled.

YamahaOutlaw said:I say stick to sleds that either had a brand new chassis design, or sleds that had an all new motor. Suspension changes, minor motor mods, track length changes, even something like addition of EFI to vector in 2010 - IMO these don't count as new models.
Just my 2 cents.
It kinda 1/2 a new model, its not the old 3 cylinder 120 engine with EFI added, its the larger Nytro 3 cylinder engine "detuned" to 126hp. 4-6 years seems to be the average "chassis" life span in snowmobiling, since ALL the yamahas are still in that 4-6 year span I really didn't expect much as far as a new chassis this year, I WAS expecting a new engine though as they have a Big hole in the HP range, they NEED a 100hp 500 class engine, the phazer does well against the Fan cooled class sleds but not so go against the 500 liquids. The gap got even wider now with a 46hp spread between the phazer 500 and the 126 vector/130+ nytro. I'd be getting a new 100hp phazer in the fall if they had released on but now I'm just going to find a left over 08' cheap or a low mileage used one, I DON'T need the HP of the nytro but the phazer feels a little underpowered.

Didnt they restyle the SRX 440 in 81? And in 82 a very few SRX made it to consumers due to something breaking (crank maybe). Then in 83 I thought they upped the engine to a 540

The 81 SRX was all new and there was no 82 SRX because of motor issues and all the warranty problems of the 81.
I believe that the 300 Enticer mentioned earlier was actually the Ovation.

Correct me if I'm wrong but hasn't Yamaha always used oil injection on their consumer sleds?( I'm not counting the SSRs.) I remember when I was a kid we had two'72 EW433Bs and they were injected.

The 300 entice he is thinking about was the Inviter. That is still one of the weirdest looking snowmobiles I have seen! It either came out in 86 or 87.

add the 83 srv went to the proaction rear, and from 56 to 62 hp
