Why does the oil change kit for the Vectors cost $79.95 and the Apex cost $59.95 in Canada when the Apexes use one more litre of oil? Also what are Canadians paying for 0W30 Yamalube Semi-Synthetic and Yamalube 0W40 Full Synthetic as well as Yamaha filters for the Vectors and Apexes?

Good question :dunno:

I don't use Yamalube anything but the last time I checked I believe the full synthetic was around $21-$22 bucks a ltr?

Not to start an oil debate/bash but I have been using Mobil-1 0W-40 European formula for 2 years now with no issues, and the best part is I can get at CDN Tire for $9.99 a ltr on sale.

I think the Yamalube semi 0-W-30 sells for $13.95 liter where I buy it. Next time I'm across the border I'll buy the kit.

Would there be a `How to` or a video on how to do an oil change on an Apex somewhere?

I paid $8.99 per us qt for the 0W-30 semisynthetic Yamalube today at my local dealer. Geeze!

I did make a discovery during the oil change process that I haven't read about before - you can purge additional oil from the crankcase by turning the engine over. Not sure about recommending this as I suppose that empties & unprimes the oil pump but seems no harm was done in my case. Ran the sled for 10-15 minutes after and no issues.

I certainly wouldn't recommend doing that, ever!

A much safer way is to use a floor jack and raise the front of the sled up, that way you will get more oil out of the drain plug, the filter area and the tank drain plug.
