I bought a new XTX last year and loved it so much that I sold my Apex's and bought a 2nd XTX this year. Now I want to mod. it , and am looking for some ideas that any one might have. I usually trail ride in the U.P. of Mich.,spend about a month a year up there. But this year have gotten a opportunity to go out west in Feb. and ride with a group for a week and a half. I have purchased a Stage 1 supercharger kit from MPI. And think I want to change my track to about a 1.75 for a little more bite, but not to much since 75% on my riding is still going to be on groomed trails. My dealer will make me a great deal buy taking my 144 stock track as a trade in as long as it is new and give me full credit towards a deeper lugged track. I think since I'm getting a different track I might as well extend the rails and go to a 162. Since the XTX has the tipped up rails I don't think it will be a problem on the trails. It gets around the corners like a 121 as it is now. What ideas would you all have as far as style track, lug depth, anti-rachet drivers, etc. any suggestions would be appreciated.

The XTX rails do not have the girth in the rear. If you extend the rails they most likely bend or break just after the tip up point. You can rent a Mountain sled out there. Your looking at spending some coin on one weeks riding. I'd rent a sled and keep your sled for your own purposes. If you then enjoy riding in the mountains, buy an MTX next year.

Thanks for the comment. I enjoy riding off trail more and more every year, even in the U.P. so I would like to go to a little deeper track anyway. But you have a very good point and maybe I would stay with the stock 144. Would you stay with the 9 tooth drivers that are stock, or would it be good to go down to a 8 tooth for more clearance up front and change the gears in the chaincase to make up for it?
I would go for a 144 Camoplast backcountry 1,75" and Avid 9t extros. Dont forget to trim the rails, or they will hit the drivers.

Thanks for the info, do you need to trim the rail and the sliders, or just the sliders? Do you have or know of someone that is using that track on their Nytro. Just wonder how it was working out and if there were any clearance issues?

doesnt sound like youre going to be lining up and racing ..so Im assuming holeshot isnt an issue..and.
I ride the U.P. as well..
cant see that back country for the trails up there for me on a 144 skid ...tipped rails or not if i was 75% on trail...sure the 25% would be great...but to me too much lug and length...
out west sure...
if it was me ..with the added power...mostly on trail...it would be the 1.25 predator / carve predrilled...studs...and no avid/extro drivers... it would rock on trail and be reasonably good off...
if your 75/25 get something that is 3/4 trail worthy and 1/4 off trail..
now if you said you were 75% off trail then Id agree..

X2 totally agree - if the %'s were reversed it would be a different story - also the 1.25 predator is an AWESOME trail/off-trail track for what it is. . .much better than the ripsaw in my opinion

I looked pretty hard into what track would work the best for me, and it sounds like your riding preferrence is about like mine. I went with the Cobra 1.325 and I love it! 90% of my riding is in the U.P., and it works great for the conditions up there. It gives up just a tiny bit of side bite when pushing it hard in the groomed trail, tight corners, but it's hardly noticeable.
Thats my vote!

I wouldn't go longer than a 144, and I agree about the predator track, it is an awesome track, very strong and durable. Maybe with the supercharger you might want to go up to the Cobra track to get a little more power to the snow. Or possibly even a 1.5" Camoplast Intense track. I dont think a 1.5 is too much for trail riding with good snow conditions.

I really like my Cobra but if I was to supercharge I would go with the BC 1.75 for the added stiffness and traction of the deeper lugs. I think the Cobra is a perfect track for a stock motor.

I'd stay with the stock drivers and go with the Cobra... JMO. The XTX doesn't have the same ratcheting problem as their brother sleds do. This being said I am not familiar with the added horsepower of the stage 1 supercharger from MPI either. If your not a hole shot rider you should still be alright with the stock drivers. Power does change people though. SO if you want the extra security then the 9T extovert drivers from avid may give you some ease of mind if you want to play or even upgrade your power. You're going to be in there, gearing and clutching for the charger, might as well change them.

I would like to Thank everyone for their comments so far. They are all making me rethink my direction to go with the sled this year. It makes sense to stay with the 144, That being said I still think I should go to a deeper lug. If my dealer wasn't offering me such a good deal on trading the OEM track in, then it would be a different story. I have a GREAT dealer (American Powersports) in Findlay. Also, I think since I will have the track off, I might as well put in the anti-rachets, just to make sure. No easier time while it is all apart and Cheap insurance since the S/C is going on it. Also, I have a set of ice scrathers to put on to help with the sliders on the trails. Still would like to hear your suggestions on the track choice. It's sure alot better to hear what other people have found out, than to put something one and not like it.

I say go with the Backcountry track. Worse that could happen is you wear through your slides a bit faster and the track may need to be replaced a bit sooner than a smaller lug track.
But the traction you will have in all conditions with the BC will be awesome.

I wouldnt say that is the worse thing that could happen at all..
to me hyfax wear is like oil or belts...just a maintenance item..
to me the worse thing that could happen is you will scrub top speed...and increase your turning resistance to 18 wheeler territory on groomed trail...

I think I'm leaning towards the Back Country and a big wheel kit on the rear, and if I can get a few extra wheels on the skid to help the hyfax when on the trails.
