I say go with the Backcountry track. Worse that could happen is you wear through your slides a bit faster and the track may need to be replaced a bit sooner than a smaller lug track.

But the traction you will have in all conditions with the BC will be awesome.

I wouldnt say that is the worse thing that could happen at all..
to me hyfax wear is like oil or belts...just a maintenance item..
to me the worse thing that could happen is you will scrub top speed...and increase your turning resistance to 18 wheeler territory on groomed trail...

Obviously you will lose top speed. But who really cares if you can go 100 or 90mph (unless you run lakes all the time), once you get going that fast it is hard to tell the difference. You will definitely tell the difference in traction especially in off trail conditions and loose snow conditions.

Plus if you find the track to be to big for you, you can sell it and go smaller. Those used backcountry tracks can be sold for close to what you paid for them.

in all but powder the 1.25 pred / carve would hook nearly as well and with a lot less noise and rolling resistance...also...the taller the lug the greater issue with cooling and hyfax wear...period...

if you like taking turns ....1.25-1.375 lug is max for 75% on trail....

also as to the top end...the stockers will do 100 in hard pack trail...dont be surprised if it stops pulling hard in the upper 80's!

again, if you were even 50/50 on and off trail and didnt care at all about high speed cruising and making the turns Id agree backcountry..
