zbros +3 front end 40" wide

You can use your stock shocks but I think someone said that you have to mount the top of the shock on the front of the mounting ears instead of in the middle. That seems a little weak to me.

zbros has too good of a name to release junk that is going to just break.

I know I wouldn't dream of mounting my shocks that way. 600 pounds coming down on them. Now your buying a new subframe for other reasons as well as catching a ski the conventional way. Not to take anything away from the quality of the kit I just would not mount the shocks like that. I'm not sure if it's the same with the new kit but the old kit would not clear Evol X's, that was a big bummer when I got my kit last summer.

I'm like rlcofmn, it's a double loading of the mounting tab closest to the shock. I haven't looked at it that closely, but aside from doing some plastic butchering (mostly a 1-1/4" chop of the nosecone), it wouldn't be that difficult to weld a shock mount tab forward of the stock position to ensure the suspension would take the usual hard landing abuse. It wouldnt be perfectly positioned because the mount would be pretty far from the subframe tubing, but far better than a cantilivered bolt!

I am putting the SPG front end on my MTX this year using the stock shock mounts, but am quite curious to see if anyone tries moving the shock mount forward, to see how it changes the suspension performance.

I understand that SPG wanted to avoid any structural changes by making the kit a "bolt on", but you gotta believe the shocks would behave quite differently with more vertical shock alignment.

OTM

I think you would have to make a new bracket altogether if you move it forward because the frame is angling down so it would effectively make the desired center to center distance shorter. Maybe not enough to worry about though

With this kit, the only reason you have to mount to the front of the shock tab is if your shocks do not have spherical bearings. If they do then you mount on the stock location. This is what I have gathered from other posts.

That is correct, my only point was that I would not buy the kit with the intention of mounting my shock any way but with spherical bearings in the stock location.

The reason this came up is because he said he was going to use his stock gytr shocks. These shocks don't have bearing ends and I don't think they can be retrofitted either. I would think they would have tested this but it still seems a little hokey to me.

I don't know.. trucks shocks used to be mounted the same way.. well as long as they weren't struts or coil overs...

Any how, I am really interested in the kit, though I will probably wait till next year and pick it up at the Puyallup snow show. Although, that depends upon what kit Yamaha is supposed to come out with for an upgrade...

Come on suspension, I know you can make it one more year!!!

Just saw this kit at the sled show in Edmonton. One dealer had the skinz kit on one sled nosed up to another with the z-broz. The z-broz had one exit shock on one side and a stock fox float on other. No mounting to the front of tab with the fox float. Both kits look impressive. I think the z-broz do look beefier. May take more abuse.

I e-mailed them for more details and pictures.

Still have not heard from zbroz, but skinz has already sent me a DVD.

Does the best salesman make the best product?

Not to take anything away from the Z broz front end, I'm sure it's a top notch product when running Spherical bearings.

But after meeting the people at Skinz this week. They are extremely smart, the amount of time they have put into understanding sled geometry's and rider input is unreal. I'd say they are far better at designing than they are at sales. So if they are the "best" salesmen I don't know how to express there time and passion they have put into this "Concept".

I'm sure Z broz will continue to put out top notch products year after year, but for Innovation and thinking outside the box for making the Nytro what people say it can't be Skinz gets my vote.
